I would like to know why people cannot have a different opinion about the Holocaust without being condemned for it. Many people don’t even believe there were even that many Jews in Germany at that time. If someone else wants to think and believe that the number was different, he has every right to do so without being ridiculed about it.
What about the Jewish couple who lied about even meeting at the Holocaust? They went on to write this wonderful love story about the Holocaust and it turned out they were never even there! They went on Oprah and lied to her and lied to the media about their story. What about them? What about the millions of Christians who were murdered during the Holocaust? Gypsys?
Although I agree the Jews were in fact targeted victims, others also perished. Why not talk about these victims?
Don’t get me wrong, it was a terrible awful catastrophic event that should of never happened and I feel for the Jews, but people have a right to have a different view about it and not be ridiculed for it.

I don’t know, man, it was pretty bad. I get annoyed when people don’t hate Stalin and Mao more than Hitler, but Hitler was pretty bad.

Well, last week the people of Quebec threw a screaming fit because they dislike the fact that General Wolf (British) beat the daylights out of General Montcalm (French) on the Plains of Abraham and got the re-enactment cancelled.

So perhaps reality is directly proportional to how loudly you kick and scream.

People have a right to be ridiculed, if they are historically obtuse, whether for racial reasons, or from garden variety ignorance, and are blatant about it. It is possible to have reasoned differences on the scope of the Holocaust, within certain parameters, or to take care that the full extent of the victims are recognized, without being beyond the pale, certainly.

If I say that I think the number of Jews killed was around 3 million, it is one thing. If I reduce the MAGNITUDE, it is another. Some of the people claim that only 60,000 were killed. That is two orders of magnitude off. It is a completely different story.

Not all of the Jews killed were from Germany. Polish Jews were hit especially hard.

Why are other groups ignored? Because 6 million out of a population of 20 million is a big number.

Because it is historical.Because it is PROVEN.Because even the German’s themselves DOCUMENTED it.Because revisionist “historians” have an AGENDA.An anti-semitic one.

Look, the President of IRAN denies the holocaust-that alone gives it irrefutable credence. It’s bad enough that an entire Race was targeted for extermination and that AT LEAST six million were kidnapped, robbed, raped, tortured, murdered and were gassed with an INSECTICIDE.But,then to DENY it even happened???No wonder the Jews absolutely freak at the merest hint of holocaust denial.

That denial is not only a crime against the Jews,it is a crime against me,you,us,and ALL of humanity.A holocaust denier reveals VOLUMES about himself that had best be left under a rock.

That said,The Holocaust does NOT give the Jews or Israel eternal carte blanche not to be called to task when necessary.

Yes it was a horrible thing to have happened but really the number does not make it any more or less horrible. I think that we can all agree that 1 innocent person killed is too many and against the will of God. So it is wrong to use this event for political purposes ei pro or anti semitic. Instead pray for the souls of everyone involved and pray that we stop committing these horrible sins. And remember there is a holocaust going on right NOW within our own country, THAT is were we need to focus.

I always wondered what the Jewish population of Europe was, I found it to be 9.5 million just prior to WWII.

When the American miltary started finding the death camps, General Eisenhower ordered all the the civilians in the nearby towns to be brought into the camps so they could see what the Nazis had done and so no one could say it never happened.

That is why the order of magnitude of the number is so important. When you are talking about millions of Jews being killed out of a population of the same order of magnitude, you get a MAJOR issue.

IT is the same way the Pol Pot. He had 1/4 of his poulation killed. That is beyond horrific.

While I tend to agree that people who minimize the holocaust have an anti-semetic axe to grind, I do find it curious that Jews did not suffer the greatest number of deaths in WWII, and yet, as the original poster pointed out, the Jews are the only group that we usually hear about. **Over 70 million people died during WWII. ** The number of non-Jewish Poles was almost as much as the Jewish number. The number of civilian deaths from several other countries were as much as, or more than, the Jewish number of deaths.

I’d conclude that, while anti-semites deny the holocaust completely are out of their mind, the emphasis on the other side of the spectrum (as if Jews were the only victims) seems a little strange as well.

Good question.

Why can’t anyone have a different opinion about the fact that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was elected pope?

Why can’t anyone have a different opinion about the fact that Archbishop Dolan has been appointed archbishop of New York?

Why can’t anyone have a different opinion about the fact that George Washington was elected first president under the U. S. Constitution?

Why can’t anyone have a different opinion about the fact that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in Ford’s Theatre.

Opinions don’t count where facts are concerned. The Holocaust is not a matter of opinion. It is a historical fact, just like Washington’s election, Lincoln’s assassination, Benedict XVI’s election and Archbishop Dolan’s appointment.

There were more Poles, Jewish or not, massacred in the concentration camps than from any other country. This looks to be a pretty accurate estimate, as I’ve been researching this very subject for a couple of years.

The figures I have seen out the Polish victims as about half Jewish, half other.

You may have whatever opinion you want, but you have to expect other people to react to your opinion with opinions of their own. Your right to your own opinion does not give you the right to have everybody else agree with you and not be criticised. Some extreme protestants may well be of the opinion that the Pope is the Antichrist. They have the right to hold that opinion and you have the right to disagree with that opinion. You are not forced to agree with their opinion of the Pope, just as we are not forced to agree with your opinion of the Holocaust. The right to an opinion cuts both ways.

Quite possibly not. However the Germans invaded Poland, Russia, the Baltic states, the Balkans, Greece, France, the Low countries etc. and killed Jews from those countries as well. Whoever is telling you that is giving you misinformation to the point of untruth. In future I would not trust anything from that source without checking it very carefully first.

I don’t think anyone will ever know the exact numbers, although they are numerous amounts. Anyone can say anything.

i can’t stand how people aren’t even allowed to research the holocaust and come to a different conclusion without being blacklisted, fired, etc…it is un-american, and completely absurd.

I mean israel doesn’t even recognize the armenian genocide because it will harm relations with turkey so it’s tough for them to take a moral high ground on the issue. there’s been countless genocides throughout history yet for some reason the jewish genocide is the only one people can’t discuss without being demonized.

i mean i know why jews demonize anyone who dare question anything about the genocide and try to make it a crime or impossible to do, but that doesn’t make it right…
