Who are these people who have chosen to empathize with Williamson, anyway?
Just a couple random people on a news story and the 169 others who’ve given their comments thumbs up:
*
"*He shouldn’t have even apologized. that was going too far. he has the right to believe or question anything he wants. Vatican is buckling under pressure of tyrants!"

*"*What type of an apology do they want? It sounds like a pretty good apology to me. I wish I could make an apology that sounded that good. I wish that the media would leave this story alone. He has apologised for what he said; what more do they want?"

cbc.ca/world/story/2009/02/27/vatican.html#socialcomments

I’m telling you, this sentiment is real and growing. The more this dead horse is beaten, the more people will come to the bishop’s defense. If that’s what Jewish groups want, then they should continue calling for Bishop Williamson’s head.

*"*Bishop Williamson, for an admission to episcopal functions in the Church, will also have to distance himself, in an absolutely unequivocal and public manner, from his positions regarding the Shoah"

rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2009/02/nota-della-segreteria-di-stato-seguito.html
Thank you.

“Not even the four Bishops, though released from the excommunication, have a canonical function in the Church and they do not exercise licitly a ministry in it.”

I will eat my hat if this nut EVER occupies a traditional Bishophric. The pope knows this pathetic priest is a loose cannon and he’ll probably be given a job refilling holy candles in Uttar Predesh…

I’m telling YOU this sentiment albeit real is NOT growing. These people are simply the usual rad-trad suspects and assorted not necessarily religious in any recognisable form, despicable anti-semites who are responding to this in a coordinated and orchestrated fashion.

I am probably the most conservative Catholic I know and have never tip toed around criticism of the Jews or Israel if warranted but on this issue these people are blind and in my opinion hate-filled and their own personal prejudices are leeching out.

This is not the same thing as Catholic defense of the Passion of Christ which WAS subjected to vicious attack by bigots who happened to be Jews.

Williamson may have “appologised”.Now these people should as THEY are causing scandal to the Church.

Just LOOK at who denies the holocaust-how could anyone in his right mind WANT to be associated with these people?😦

You think the readers of the CBC’s website are “rad-trads”???

CBC doesn’t stand for “Catholic Broadcasting Network”.

I think the posters on there are anti-Semites. It isn’t a scientific way of determining sentiment. It is really likely that Williamson’s supporters, and Holocaust revisionists/deniers have been following the story, and are thus more likely to comment on a story involving him.

Please read the WHOLE post.I read the Communist Broadcasting System’s website in particular the moronic Heather Mallick-so why wouldn’t rad-trads-they’ve got to have someplace to get their evidence of various conspiracies from.

Exactly

Intersting comment, considering you started this thread…
I started this thread so to let people understand that others can have a different opinion about the Holocaust. If someone says something, even the slightest, they are labeled an anti-semite. People do not have to agree 100% the 6 million number unless the people are all written down by name, including the non-Jews who died in which there were plenty. Why not talk about them?

Nice use of reverse-pyschology. 👍

I know precisely where that phrase was from, and I used it deliberately to be provocative. Jewish groups are acting out the same “bloodthirsty” stereotype which Shakespeare exploited. They need to calm down and stop the calumny, because they’re not doing themselves any favors.
I definitely think there such a thing as too much freedom of speech.
Wow. I just spent an hour today arguing that Catholics who attend the Latin Mass are not necessarily anti-Semitic. Then I come to the boards and read this, and I become very demoralized.
Don’t be. “Catholics who attend the Latin Mass” are a very diverse group. Naturally there will be the occasional bad apple.

It has been said numerous times in this thread, but I will say it again:

People are allowed to have different opinions. This includes (but is not limited to) thinking this bishop is crazy for saying what he did. He should expect and accept some backlash for what he said. I guess I don’t understand the loyalty to this guy when it has been proven that Jews were in fact gassed.

And about your comment about the people that went on Oprah and lied… so freaking what? Just because two people lied about how they met doesn’t mean that the Holocaust never happened.

Point being this Jewish couple had gotten so much pity for their story about the Holocaust, yet they were never there. Not good.
Furthermore, the bishop is not crazy, but you can generalize all you want because he spoke out.

When people do that, it always reminds me of the quote attributed to Galileo, when he dropped the cannonball and the shot off the Leaning Tower. He predicted they would fall at the same rate; the Aristotelians maintained that the larger ball would fall 100 cubits before the smaller fell one. Apparently the heavier did hit first, but by a span of three fingers – I imagine GG didn’t take into account wind resistance – to which the Aristotelians decided that GG was proven wrong and Aristotle proven right. GG said, “You would hide behind these three fingers the 99 cubits of Aristotle?”
