He does! A better question might be why don’t we hear him, or why don’t we listen to him?

look, is there a bible story wherein god called to someone and that someone said “who’s this again? I DONT BELIEVE IT!”.

God communicated directly with the Israelites when they left Egypt (even physically being present as a pillar of cloud/fire). They still disobeyed.

Jesus is God - He called to many, many chose not to respond. Most notably Judas and Peter.

So yes, it happens.

Conversely, why aren’t you able to develop the faith and trust that millions upon millions of other Christians have? What makes you so special that you must stand out from all the rest?

they made the golden calf because they thought moses died up in the mountains and no longer has a means to find out who god is and what he wants. even aaron went with it.

The golden calf was just one of a number of disobedient thoughts and acts - Most of which occurred while Moses was right there with them.

of course! who told muslim to follow islam? was it god directly, or their culture? who told you to be catholic? who told protestants to reject catholicism?

Maybe the point is to just be good to people, & not to stand around waiting for a voice to tell you what to do next.

Ah, the question I’ve asked since I was a kid. One of my top questions for God when I die for sure. Maybe there’s some theology that explains why, which we don’t know about?

Wouldn’t it be convenient if God just came down to every person on the planet, and told us directly, in our ear:

“Christianity is the true religion, all others are false!”
“Abortion is murder, don’t do it!”
“Homosexual sex is wrong, don’t do it!”
“Don’t use an atomic bomb on Japan and killing innocence!”
“Hey all you Protestants, Catholics are right!”
“Stop being obsessed with worldly success, and pray to Me more!”

But hey, as Catholics, we have Marian apparitions… Guadalupe, Lourdes, Fatima…

That disbelief only lasted for a second.
His reaction was understandable.
Of course the first time you hear God there would be some doubt. But eventually you will believe as did Zachary.

mass delusion is one way.

direct communication is two-way. meaning what you discuss with god you can confirm with others. its what a true relationship is all about.

It’s as though a tiny resistor on a circuit board were to ask the capacitor next to him, “why can’t we communicate directly with the Power Generator? At least then we would know for certain that the Power source really exists."

Well, yes, the resistor and the capacitor could be connected directly to the generating plant. But they would be destroyed in a microsecond. The power surge would blow them to smithereens. Some intervening step down transformers and circuits are needed if these components are not to be destroyed. They could not survive a direct power surge from the source.

In somewhat the same way, God communicates with us carefully and deliberately, in a way that will not blow our minds.
