Why can't the Jewish rebuild their temple?

I really don’t think they do. I think the push for a new temple comes from Christians more than Jews, especially the Christians who want to bring about the second coming.

Besides, one of the reasons God demanded we burn up things was so that we might send “A pleasing scent unto the Lord.” Perhaps God was the original BBQ fan? I myself don’t see why, fully aknowledging the fullness of Christ’s sacrifice, we need not send Our Lord some pleasing smells.

We discussed this once before, years ago on here. Someone pointed out that most of the money and drive to rebuild was from American evangelicals. They are trying to hasten the end

The instituted daily prayers said for the rebuilding of the Holy Temple and restoration of the divine service that took place within date back almmost two millenia and are said three times a day by observant (orthodox) Jews. Before the Holocaust, that was perhaps a greater percentage of the Jewish population than it now is, but it is still the hope of most of the faithful that their brethren who have become less observant and for whom America has become the new Promised Land will return back to the ways of G-d prescribed by the Torah and will desire to see the rebuilding of the Temple in splendor and of the holy city of Jerusalem.

The substance of the New Covenant (the Word Incarnate) and the Ark who bore Him (Mary) are both in their Heavenly Temple right now. This is the only real Temple. We are united to this Temple in the Sacred Mystery of the Holy Eucharist when the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity are made present among us. Any attempts of the apostate Jews to vainly revive their faded types and shadows will be insignificant in comparison.

I do not dispute that. I am saying that there is A LOT of money and support from American Evangelical Christians for the rebuilding of the Temple. Some of it is more vocal than some of the Jewish folks

  1. The new “temple” is the members of the Body of Christ. The people of God are the Temple, not a building.

Plus there’s also a really good practical reason. Two of the most important mosques stand on the Temple foundation. Knocking them down would probably cause World War III. However the Spiritual reasons should suffice.

Absolutely, completely and thoroughly 1000% Amen to that. When I started the thread, I was trying to think with respect to the Jews. Geez, perhaps I need to have myself circumsized in order to be able to do so.
 
Why can’t the Jewish build a temple on the temple mount?

I do believe that the main reasoning is that there is already a Mosque on top of it.

They would have to destroy the mosque to place the temple, isn’t this correct?

Acts like that are ones that cause holy wars. Israel would be destroyed by the rest of the middle eastern forces.
 
No Israel would not be destroyed any who oppose them would be though. So I say let them try. 🙂 God does love his people.
