Why choose Catholicism over Protestant churches?

Why would a person choose to be Catholic instead of protestant?
 
The legitimate Eucharist, and Apostolic succession, with submission to the Pope. I want to be in the same community of believers Christ founded. In addition to that, the spiritual resources available in it is immense compared to other Churches, and useful for attaining perfection.

The Catholic Church can trace back its roots to Jesus and the Apostles. No Protestant Church can claim that. The Protestants are Bible-based, but their Bible is the one that the Catholic Church put together, except for seven books that they conveniently took out.
 
The decision to choose the Catholic Church over any Protestant church is like the decision to choose a licensed doctor over a non-licensed “doctor”. The unlicensed may get some things right, but they are not recognized as a legitimate medical doctor by the government, and have no legal faculties to establish themselves as such.

Much in the same way, the Catholic Church has all of God’s “credentials”, whereas Protestants do not.
 
The Eucharist, Apostolic succession, the fact that it is the church Christ established (and not one “protesting” that church that came about 600 or so years ago), the fullness of truth, the vibrancy and incredible joy of prayer and closeness to Mary, the saints, our departed ones. All of this and much, much more. So much beauty and truth has been distorted or merely “dropped” by Protestantism. I thank God daily that I am Catholic.
 
They shouldn’t choose either, if all they’re doing is looking for a religion to belong to.

Faith in Christ should be the motive for their search and they should pray for guidance in following God’s will.

It’s better to be a good Christian than a bad Catholic or Protestant.

Why anyone chooses any religion over another: because of what they have come to believe is the truth.

Also, Protestant churches don’t have as extensive a list of credentials. The harder choice would be between the Catholic and the Orthodox Church.
 
I was protestant raised in the religion. Converted to the Faith after 2yrs of instruction at the age of 33-34 yrs old because I felt called by Christ to come home to the Faith. Believe me it wasn’t easy to go against what I was raised by.

There are a lot of reasons, from deep to shallow. They would include:
  1. The Catholic Faith is considered the true or the most true form of Christianity theologically.
  2. Faith in the True Presence of the Eucharist or the efficacy of other Catholic sacraments that the Protestants do not have.
  3. Attracted by the sensual or traditional aspects–“the smells and bells”
  4. Attracted to being in a faith community with the Catholics the person knows.
  5. Practical aspects of going to local Catholic church compares well with available Protestant churches–anything from the church is prettier to it is closer to liking the priest better than the Protestant clergy.
  6. Likes an all-male clergy
  7. Likes the moral teachings better
  8. Spouse or family is Catholic and it is easier to be what they are.
    Etc… people do have very different reasons for becoming or remaining Roman Catholic.

The fullness of faith. The absolute, undoubted presence of Jesus Christ in His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

You can talk about Him, you can admire Him, you can read about Him, or you can experience Him.
