Why choose the Catholic faith?

Well, I’m sorry then to tell you that you are in denial.

If someone asks you if you are American, European, Asian, or something else, you can’t say “none of the above” because that means you are nothing, which is something.
That’s a different thing - race.

Should I have a word for you if you don’t believe in unicorns or santa, or are not sure about either.

There is no difference in the analogy I provided; stop being in denial.

There is no evidence for unicorns or santa; there is for God.

Come on, we have been around this so many times - there is no evidence for or against god.

The ‘evidence’ of Thomas Aquinas could be used to prove the existence of unicorns or anything for that matter - just insert at end - 'so this proves that ______ exists (enter what ever you want) that seems to be how his argument goes.

We HAVE been around this so many times, and somehow 😃 you still haven’t acknowledged many of the proofs for God! You haven’t even bothered to look at videos I have given you.

I have also refuted that claim, oh, a few hundred times, so don’t bring that one out again.

Except that the traits he gives for god are nothing like the traits of mythical creatures.

With all due respect Gods ARE mythical creatures, we have not been able to find prove for any one of them

I have watched them - I am interested in your position, but they all are not explicit enough on the part where they ‘insert god’

You have clarified that you believe in a first mover; if this isn’t a god of some shape or form, what is it? Do you think that somehow nothing can come from nothing?

That’s circular logic. “The proof used for god can be applied to any mythical creature, since god is a mythical creature, we have no proof of him”

I am not looking to ‘believe’ on my part. That would be useless pretence. I am looking for answers to questions. Pretending I believe in the Catholic God, gets me no where.
April, so you do believe in a prime mover, that’s a good first step.
Are you looking for absolute proof answers or reasonable answers.
In the bible Jesus didn’t say you need to come to him in absolute faith, but you do have to come to him with some faith. If you dont at least have the faith of a mustard seed then you can’t really say that your making an full effort to come to the Christian God.

My faith first starts with Knowing that Jesus loves me to come and die for my sins. He loved me to give me a church that was built upon Peter the rock and Jesus as the cornerstone.
I know that there is no love in the universe that compares to Gods love for me.

My question to you is how bad do you want God? 🙂

That’s not what I said
No. What you said was that there is no evidence of god. When we show you evidence you say it could be applied to any mythical creature, when we say that god isn’t a mythical creature you go back to saying there is no proof. That is circular logic.

Hey AprilFloyd, I think I understand were you’re coming from after reading through these posts. You’re talking about wanting the proof that God exists, or as others might say Faith? I’m a convert to the Catholic faith, previously an agnostic; not totally sure if there was or wasn’t a God. When I realized that I didn’t have Faith or truly believe in God, I asked Him if He was real and to give me faith. He did. What I learned after receiving this gift was that my understanding of God was way off. For example, The beginning & the end of everything IS God. The way a flower knows how to grow, or a bumble bee who has a brain the size of a grain of sand knows how harvest honey & the trillions of atoms that perfectly make a bumble bee exist IS God. God IS Love. I think many people have a view of God in human terms: as an old, grumpy, powerful, Man. But this perspective is flawed. I hope this helps some 🙂

Forgot to mention one thing. Although it’s impossible to describe God with our limited imaginations, one example of God that I really enjoy is God is perfect Love. Imagine a fire furnace that burns hotter than a billion suns, that’s how strong/much God IS LOVE. God’s Love is ‘like’ a burning furnace, which is why the angels Cherubim mean “Burning Bodies”. It’s the idea that the angels are so close to God/Love that they are like burning flames of Love themselves. Cool imagery I think.

Gods are some of the most popular mythical creatures

And now we arrive back at it. You have made your claim that god is a myth (and ignored my point on circular logic) so now it is time to back up this claim.

I am interested, why you would wish me to back up a claim, yet you accept so much on faith or hope.

april, is there something you intend to accomplish here besides insulting people?
