With all due respect, I find catholics to be very closed minded and indoctrinated. I accept that they must follow doctrine. Is this forum full of hard core catholics or are there more moderates, who question catholic doctrine, in the light of scientific discovery
OH hahahahahaha!!! Why don’t you pull out some of that scientific discovery as proof?? You better make sure you know what you’re talking about dearie!!

Unlike atheists or agnostics, right?

The obvious one I see on this forum, is the church’s, anti-scientific view on homosexuality. The refusal to accept the scientific evidence for the evolution of homosexuality
OH!!! Here we go!! The truth finally reveals itself!!! Please…do us all a favor and enlighten us with your “scientific evidence” of homosexual evolution! THIS IS GOING TO BE SO EASY!!! (rubbing hands together with glee)

Jesus and the cross are a great start, that is where the church comes from. Inevitably you might have to deal with “maybe he was a real person, but how do you know he isn’t a quack”. This is where witness and testimony are important. What kept me, personally from going off the deep end was St. Paul. Think about it, here you have a rising star, someone who has everything. And what, he gives up everything for what? Persecution? Imprisonment? Death? That hardly makes sense, and if you read him he was lucid. And what of the 12 apostles who saw him rise? Why would they make this claim and keep it, even unto death. This is quite unique in history.

It’s actually far more rational to believe Christ was the Word made flesh. So why Catholic then? History is a good start there. What did the early believers die for, specifically the ones who didn’t write the bible. What did the every day believer die for. It wasn’t for the baptist, or any Protestant church.

No matter the supposed issues, how very often these things actually boil down to sex.
I never really understood the term “sexual revolution” until fairly recently honestly. Call me nieve, but even at my worst “pagan” depravity I gave us more credit than to believe the revolution was just about meaningless sex. Somehow in my mind I almost spiritualized it. How foolish I was, how blessed I am God proved me the fool.

You must be a fan of Joseph Goebbels.
This is baffling, April claims she isn’t an atheist, then makes the assertion that All Gods are mythical creatures.
Correct me if I’m wromg April but isn’t thi an atheist?
Or maybe I’m still asleep .

That’s like a catholic saying he is a catholic and professes faith in the hari Krishna God.
I’m baffled .

Crazzeto, it goes even further than that. Paul was actually on his way to have more Christians found, imprisoned, tortured or killed when all of a sudden he did a complete about face. What would cause a member of the pharasees who was a year or 2 separated from the crucifixion of Christ who was clearly anti Christian to abandon his old way and become a Christian. He had so much to lose. Obviously some dramatic event happened in his life.
He saw the resurrected Christ.

It’s the only thing that makes sense.

With all due respect to you, your statement to me initially seems about as closed minded as can be. Your last question seems to imply that you think the light of scientific discovery leads one to question Catholic Doctrine. Are you saying that because you have read it from someone you thought was clever, or because you have come across some science, yourself, that appears to you to contradict Catholic Doctrine? If the latter, what is it?

Are you OK Sister Terese, you seem in quite a fuddle. I am not an atheist. I appreciate that you feel it can go around in circles I feel it to. But that is the nature of my questions. I find that a lot of people in the Church, hide behind dogma or doctrine and don’t seem to be able to look at their God and religion in an objective way, to ascertain what the truths are. I always get the ’ It is true because it is’ argument or frustration from those who reply because they obviously have blind faith - I don’t - I need evidence and not philosophical suppositions or the ‘I don’t know the answer - so it must be a god’ thinking of Thomas Aquinas et al.
You claim that all Gods are mythical creatures. That makes you an atheist.
There are no 2 ways around this April.
You are an atheist.

April person has no clue…pulls statements out of the air and thinks that the rest of us are going to take her/him seriously. Get real!!!

You’ll never get an answer. I’ve asked it numerous times. This person obviously has no clue to logic or logical argument. Public school effects.

You are an atheist.
She will never respond appropriately. PREDICTION: Her next response will be: THERE IS NO PROOF THERE IS A GOD. I’m betting $1.00. (That’s all I have at the moment! :p)

Guys seriously, if she refuses to give an actual answer. Well, shake the dust off your sandles.

Yep, that’s what I was driving at.

You truly are ignorant to make such a ridiculous statement.
What is the standard of proof for religions. In our criminal law system - the standard is ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ - what is the standard for your position.

Hi ST, Are you saying that homosexuals have not evolved in the same way as other humans?

Let me know where I am starting with you.
