Just as Rome decided to utterly destroy Carthage so that it would never be a problem again, the victors in the culture war (i.e. secularist ideology) has decided that Christianity must be utterly destroyed so that it will never again be a problem for the secular culture.

“If you, an out-of-date-Christian who is not on “the right side of history” (to borrow one of President Obama’s favorite locutions), say that fornication is sinful, or that abortion is homicide, or that homosexuality is unnatural, or that transgenderism is lunacy – you are denounced as a bigot or hater or misogynist or homophobe or transphobe or just plain nitwit. Your negative judgments are “hate speech.” And these denunciations of your thought crimes grow louder and more frequent every day.”

Our (sexual) Carthage Must be Destroyed
.

IDK, the way I see it when I look around, the church is not that much of a threat to the govt or ruling authority, the church may disagree about some things, but in the end, the govt leaders recognize no church is going to encourage their people to rise up and fight for change, in the end, the churches are going to instruct their parishes to obey the secular govt and do nothing against them.

I think this is why we see secular govts and churches get along so well in modern times, the worldly authorities realize the modern day church would never cause too many problems.

You may be right. The churches have unconditionally surrendered. But has the Church? I hope not.

All of these things including Atheism separate us from God and diminish human dignity to below the level of animals. Humanity was created by God to reflect God; not as a mirror, but as an intimate and living part of our individual being and personality.

There must be no sexual ethics, at all. No guilt, no shame, no sin. That’s been the mantra for 40 years. It’s wrong and we know it’s wrong. The Church is telling us what to do. All that each one of us has to do is do it. To stay away from immoral sexual behavior.

The media is not your friend in this. The Church is. Follow Catholic media.

From the numbers that I’ve seen of Catholics who support these “secular” sexual ethics, it seems that Carthage is destroying itself. No help from the outside needed.

Christianity always wants to be the victim, but it’s not the minority atheist population thats taking down your churches. Your doing it yourself.

John 3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.

Just one front on the larger battle. People who love evil will work to destroy good. Why else sue a baker who won’t make a cake? Because they want the last bit of resistance destroyed.

Thanks for the post.

God always leaves a faithful remnant:

“Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”?

"And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”

“So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.”

Romans 11: 3 to 5 NIV

This guy writing the article doesn’t cite a single example of what he’s talking about. He is making generalizations in order to ‘scare’ up some readership.

If the case he makes is true he should be able to give some examples. If there is something wrong with media…this web article is a good example.

Come on people, Catholic media needs higher standards than that of the secular media.

When the STDs that they have acquired totally ravage their bodies, then they will cry out. In most cases though they will hurl insults at God for their own free will. We’ve all done that at one point in our lives but thanks be to God for the infused grace to know that we have done wrong.

What gets me through is that God is the victor in the end.

Because the marketing has been spectacularly successful, in this instance.

People have been led to believe that there is human overpopulation and that the responsible thing to do is use birth control.

They’ve been led to believe that their children can’t help but be sexually active and that the responsible thing to do is put them on birth control and teach them how to use condoms. We’ve stopped teaching them how to have honest conversations with each other about chastity because we’ve been brainwashed along with the rest of the culture into believing it can’t help - our kids can’t control themselves.

What a thing to believe about your own children! But nearly everyone does.

Didn’t list a single example? He listed all the acts which 70 years ago were frowned upon by almost everyone, and pointed out that all who protest are not merely argued against bit silenced.

*No, it is the ban – an increasingly effective social ban that is tending to become a legal ban – on the expression of Christian sexual opinions. *

This, he gives no specific examples of this. I know they exist, but he has to cite some if he wants to be taken seriously.

Just as acceptance of homosexuality did not come immediately in the 1960s or ‘70s, so acceptance of adultery has also been delayed a few decades. But don’t worry: it’s coming soon.

Assumptions don’t help either.

Who decides when a person has sex? They do. Teach them to wait till marriage. Tell them the truth. Tell them the media wants them to ignore Church teaching. We are currently experiencing an STD epidemic.

The lie about overpopulation began in 1968.

From the New York Times:

"No one was more influential — or more terrifying, some would say — than Paul R. Ehrlich, a Stanford University biologist. His 1968 book, “The Population Bomb,” sold in the millions with a jeremiad that humankind stood on the brink of apocalypse because there were simply too many of us. Dr. Ehrlich’s opening statement was the verbal equivalent of a punch to the gut: “The battle to feed all of humanity is over.” He later went on to forecast that hundreds of millions would starve to death in the 1970s, that 65 million of them would be Americans, that crowded India was essentially doomed, that odds were fair “England will not exist in the year 2000.” Dr. Ehrlich was so sure of himself that he warned in 1970 that “sometime in the next 15 years, the end will come.” By “the end,” he meant “an utter breakdown of the capacity of the planet to support humanity.”

I thought the piece in the NC Register by Janet Smith was particularly apt.

The original linked article by David Carlin in The Catholic Thing was a short historical overview of recent decades. Had he wished to flesh it out it could be made into a book. There is no doubt that the sexual ethics of both Catholics and Protestants and even of secular society prior to the 1930’s was much more in accord with traditional Christian doctrine than today. In 1930 the first protestant church caved in on traditional teaching against contraception.

The Catholic Thing article concerns mainly the situation from 20th century forward. Fr. Martin R. Tripole, SJ, in an interview with Carol Olson in the CWR traces the roots of the current malaise much further back. See his interview here, or read his book if you can find a copy of it.

We kept hearing about it at school, and there were endless magazine articles and TV talk shows about it.

It is the goal of the New World Order to destroy Christian morality. They want it replaced with secular morality. The New World Order created communism to carry out this goal. Communism calls for the striking down of the old order. They want to replace it with a leftist utopia without God.
