Yea, yous’d da champ for dependent thinking. Yous’ wants us to depend on the “bureau of concensus.” All others please need not apply.😃
Philipp, what do you not understand about independent thinking?

Not according to geoformeo. From his Post #214: “…if dinosaurs and man coexisted, men would be eaten and eliminated.” Thus, according to some, dinosaurs ate flesh too. Not sure about the cake.
Bet they would if you tried to offer them some, right along with you!!! Memaw

I do understand how some try to make a theory sound more like a fact when it isn’t. Just look at all the different theories on this thread that disagree with each other. I can’t even take my kids and now grandkids to our local Zoo with out seeing a big and I mean big poster showing how man ‘evolved’ from Ape. No explanation that its just a theory and they have NO proof. Whats the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words! What message do you think they are trying to get across to us??? I don’t have to be a scientist or even know a scientist to know that is wrong. I, with my little uneducated mind, (at least in great scientific matters) have to explain to the kids that man did NOT come from apes, God created Man to have dominion over them. God Bless, Memaw
Memaw, sadly I think you do not understand science. Theory and fact lie on different epistemological levels. Theories never become facts. Rather, theories propose explanations of facts.

The fact is that morphologically, palaeontologically, and genetically it appears that all species on earth are related. Evolution is a proposed explanation for the relationships among species.

If your zoo claims that humans evolved from apes they have it wrong, but I think you probably misread the poster. I know of no scientist who argues this. Rather, humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor, from which they diverged millions of years ago. For the sake of your grand children’s education and future participation in society, I hope they can understand this.

lol. This is funny. Science lives off evidence. There’s no evidence for an entire field of science. Yes. You are right. Refer to the couple of suggestions below.

I refer you to the chapter “Before Our Very Eyes”, in The Greatest Show on Earth. Just duct tape over the author if you don’t like his name.

Alternatively, talkorigins.org/faqs/homs/specimen.html
“E” has no evidence. Just presumptions, no actual proof, just words.
No one has “SEEN” it yet. They gave “e” some of God’s qualities, “invisibility” for one.

No trace has ever been found of the ‘missing link’ either.
You mean to say that all that scientific research is done on thin air. Memaw
Memaw. please seek some education in biology. You seem greatly fearful of it, as if somehow education will challenge your religious beliefs. Let me assure you that there are thousands of faithful Catholics – including priests I know – who work in evolutionary biology. Science and religion need not be the awful contradiction you make it appear to be.

A good place to start would be Ted Peters and Marty Hewlett’s Can I believe in God and Evolution? A Guide for the Perplexed. http://www.amazon.com/Can-You-Believe-God-Evolution/dp/0687335515

Of course, if you refuse to read, there is nothing more I can do.

What Popes?? show us some proof!!. And PLEASE don’t tell me to prove that they didn’t teach it for decades. God Bless, Memaw
The most noteable pope was JP2. He accepted evolution. Popes before him also. I named one…I’ll let you research the rest.

Prieldedi, are you a scientist? Or have you ever met a scientist? Have you ever visited a university? Have you ever spoken with a biologist about why she or he works with evolution? Have you ever talked with a Catholic biologist? Do you have a Catholic university within driving distance?

Have you ever considered why 100,000 biologists – who have spent an average of ten years of study each – accept the evolutionary explanation for the evidence? Have you ever wondered why thousands of articles on evolutionary research are produced every year, while anti-evolutionists only produce the odd book occasionally? Have you wondered why the Pontifical Council for Culture sponsored a major conference on evolution in Rome last year?

These are intriguing questions.

Don’t forget Pope Benedict, whom I quote below my signature line.

Sir: Whoever thought of this explanation is a genius. It is the simplest and least complicated of all the explanations I have heard. Simplify, simplify, simplify. Alas, no poached dinosaur eggs for breakfast tomorrow.

Oh perhaps this is a warning to all those cultures who prefer males to females. Before they know it they will not be able to reproduce themselves due to lack of sex differentiation. At least they don’t eat their young. Oops! wrong again. That’s the net effect of abortion.
Whoever thought of it did so after observing other known reptiles. Isn’t that what scientists ought to do, observe?

Let’s look at the meteorite crash: crash… death. I find it very complex, indeed. Never thought before how complex it is. Curiously with the same net result, no dinosaur eggs for breakfast tomorrow.

No, this one needn’t be considered. An asteroid impact is all but certain as the cause.
Is it possible that the asteroid impact changed the temperature of the Earth, and in doing so it became also a contributor factor to the extinction of those dinos with the egg characteristics of the crocs and turtles?

Gee whiz don’t pick on poor Memaw for your goofs. It’s you that don’t seem to know how science works. When an hypothesis like you promote is challenged by laboratory and field research you got to check out those anomalies. That’s how science progresses!
Since 1859 there have been numerous challenges to evolution. The theory has grappled wtih these and undergone significant change – such as with the incorporation of genetics and DNA. It has survived these challenges and become stronger.

If you actually read the article I posted you will see that global temperature change was a big factor. The atmosphere was so choked with dust for years that temperatures around the world plummeted, contributing to the extinction of dinosaur genera.

So when are you going to encourage your fellow scientists to C-14 date the fossils and even the rocks. Diamonds are very hard rocks and a girl’s best friend as well as others 😉 They are found world-wide and are 99% carbon:eek: Diamonds have C-14 content which they should NOT have if they were truly 0.5 to 3 BILLION years old.😉 Do you want the references to show your friends? says Moses to Saint Darwin.
Speaking of Diamonds!!

I have a cute little story to tell you about diamonds, when my oldest grandaughter was about 10 years old she wanted to know if she could wear my “diamond” earrings to school one day. (They were fake diamonds but she didn’t know that). So I said, “Sure but don’t loose them”, and she said, “Oh I won’t Grandma, I’ll take good care of them,” So off she went. well she did take them off and leave them on her desk.
Later that day her Mom brought her over to tell me she lost my earrings and she said, “When I grow up I will buy you a new pr”. and I said "Oh, that’s Ok honey there not that important and my daughter-in-law said let her think they are so she will learn to be more careful when she borrows something. A few days later the teacher returned my ‘diamond’ earrings to me saying she found them on my grandaughter’s desk and was afraid they would get lost. I told her they weren’t real, just fake.
Well her mom said not to tell her I had them as she wanted her to sweat it out a bit. I put them up and never wore them as I forgot to.
Well this last Christmas (many years later), she gave me a beautiful pr. of REAL diamond eartings, saying, “Grandma I told you I would buy you a new pr. when I grew up!” I could have cried, Her Mom and I both forgot to ever tell her I had my old earrings back. I told her she could take these back if she wanted as they are sooo expensive and she said, “No Grandma, your worth all the diamonds in the world.” So I wear them with great pride in my grandaughter and sadness in my not ever telling her. God Bless, Memaw

A sweet grandaughter…and grandmother! 🙂

I’ve also seen such posters in zoos and museums. They can’t seem to stop socking it to us. When I was in Rome, Italy last year in February every subway stop had a large poster of Sir Charles Darwin in his later years with a long flowing beard. I took pictures of several -His portrait added a nice grandfatherly touch to those earthen cavities - like they were telling us poor stupid peons, Grandfather knows best (how we got here)!

Since I was visiting all the churches I could get to in the five days I was there I must have seen a dozen Darwin portraits as Academia celebrated his birth and his book. They were on streetcars too.

No wonder some in academia but not all were ranting when the book came out in early November, 2009 entitled, “Evolutionism: The Decline of an Hypothesis” 👍 www.kolbecenter.org

If you mean if I have a university degree in science the answer is no.
Countless.
Thousands of times.
I have read & watched interviews with biologists explaining it.
Yes.
Yes, 3 miles.

Yes. I also have consider why thousands of biologists don’t accept it.
Yes. I also wonder why non evolutionists scientists are harassed, threatened, fired.
Yes. They must be afraid of “Galileo Part II”.

Not so intriguing questions.
