Have one of the techs here at CAF help you; I’m sure they can figure out why the pic isn’t posting correctly.

Keep trying; seems like there’s lots of us who can’t wait to see what this thing is. Try again soon, Rudy! 🙂

I couldn’t find any info online about this. Is there any info about the cross maker that could help figure out what this is? Maybe the store you bought it has something?

The North Coast of Oregon has a huge art culture and wild animals are one of the main themes that sell, so I don’t think it was necessarily an idol, but just some artist’s attempt to combine popular ideas in an original way. Maybe the idea was for it to break and reveal a hidden piece inside.

I would be more inclined to think it was something like this than something with evil intentions.

😦 It doesn’t sound too wholesome to have a cross intentionally break with a wolf inside. Here’s hoping they were just recycling metal bits 👍

Saw a small news story months ago about rosaries made in Rumania having Satanic symbols hidden in/on them. Can’t find it online (apparently there are deluded people who openly make/have Satanic rosaries, and I don’t want to read about them).

Looks like it pays to examine your religious artefacts, as with offshore production there may be less quality control, if nothing else.

The dog-headed man could be Anubis, an Egyptian god.

Even if there was an idol inside, it’s not like you knew about it. We have to avoid falling into this trap of literally taking the scriptures and liberally applying words like “idol” to things. If you intended to worship the idol of anubis to supposed egyptian god then that’s another story. Can’t worship something if it isn’t there.

I agree though, that it is slightly disturbing that someone would go to the extent of infusing a cross with an idol.

And even if there were elements of satanism attached with the religious artifact, sprinkling and blessing by a priest exorcises the artifact and makes it a true sacramental.

If you can remember the name of the place you purchased it from, give them a call and ask them if they are aware of it. Then if so, what is the meaning of it.

I asked a friend from Montana if he had seem something like that. He wondered if it could possibly/actually be a skull and crossbones. Sometimes the end of the bones are placed right against the skull, it could look like ears I guess.

He reminded us that years ago, they placed them in the base of crosses because - well here is what he said…

" do you suppose it could be actually a skull and crossbones??
old crucifixes had them at base of the cross because tradition said jesus cross was raised above the resting place of adam"

PM me and I’ll give you my email address you can attach the image to it, then I’ll upload it here for people to see. Even if these boards have problems uploading images, I’m an expert web designer, I can get it posted and shown here regardless.
