Among Mohammed, Buddha and Jesus, only Jesus did not marry.
Buddha had many concubines when he was a prince, and Mohammed had 4 wives. Both of them had sex with women.

Jesus is chaste.

Is sex created for man-woman only?

Well, the most simple answer that comes to mind is that Jesus was here to give himself to all of mankind. In order to be married he would have to vow to give himself entirely to one woman for the rest of his life. This is something that he simply could not do.

The marital act is created as a means for a married couple to give themselves to each other in a sacrificial way that can bring forth new life. The marital act in some way emulates the life giving sacrifice that Jesus made for all of mankind. In no way is Jesus’ sacrifice sexual, but as human beings a marital act that is free, total, faithful, and fruitful (open to children) is the one of closest things we can do to emulate Gods sacrificial love for us.

Think about who Jesus is and his mission on earth and that should give you your answer.

Jesus, our Lords peace be whit You.
First You maybe should read the Bible, and You will understand it better. But lets take a closer look on this topic.
Jesus had a mission to do and complete,to die for our sins, and help people in a way that made them what we now call christians. Simply,His mission did not include marriage. And because He all the time knew what would happend,to say it easy, why leave a widow “behind”? A catholic priest do his work “in Christi Persona” and live in celibacy to have ALL the time he need to serve the Church and his parish,if he would be also a dad and husband,he would have to split his time between both work and family, and that can’t be done the way the Church think about it. I have a call to priesthood, wich sadly can not be fullfilled due to a marriage, divorce and healt, not to mention age,I am 50 and I suffer from depression and panic-attacks,and yet this call tells me what to do,and say,and I do not “beleive” I am a priest, some of you may think that "oh boy,one nutcase moore"but I need to live in celibacy, and wos happy when my marriage ended for reasons You may know well.
But back to the topic, that is why Jesus did not marrie,He had a mission, and it took all His time. So the ansver is pretty simple in the end.

Please correct me if I’m wrong … but are we not (the Church) our Lord’s bride in waiting, so He did not get married in the sense that we get married here on earth, but not completely forsaking marriage by taking the Church as His bride.

How did Mary and Joseph explain to their neighbors and acquaintances why their 30 year old son was not married? In Jesus time for a Jewish man to not be married by age 20 was a family embarrassment. Usually marriages were arranged in advance. If they told people that He was the Messiah they may have been stoned for blasphemy or run out of town. Thank you.

Jesus became man to give his life for his bride, THE CHURCH.

When someone marries, they give themselves completely to the one they marry. It is impossible to serve both the church and spouse.

For the second part of your question, YES, sex is only moral if it is between a man and a woman within MARRIAGE.

I don’t think that the embarrassment part is really true. We know John the Baptist was unmarried.

Rabbis usually did live celibate lives according to Jewish traditions as well according to what I have heard.

I’ve never heard that Christ was an embarrassment to His family.

Did you just make that up out of thin air or is there any real evidence of it?

Christ (being God) is above the things of men and condescended to us just by becoming man for 33 years. Why would he get married? There was no need to leave behind an heir and getting married for the purpose of sex is a human failing. Christ is above all such things.

Trying to apply human values to God is ridiculous in the first place…
Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
If in heaven, the angels of God are beyond the practice of marriage, why would anyone think the practice would be applied to God Himself? Marriage to the Church is mentioned, but that’s NOT the type of marriage you’re talking about and that phrase is very likely just intended to describe the God/Church relationship in terms that we as fallen, carnal-thinking creatures can relate to.
  1. There is evidence that among the Jews of the 1st Century celibacy was practised.
– Flavius Josephus, Filon, and Phynius the Old, tell us that there were Essenes who practised celibacy, and we know that some from Qumran were celibate.
– Filon points out that the “therapists”, a group of ascetics from Egypt, led celibate lives.
– Also, in the tradition of Israel, some famous people such as Jeremiah, were celibate. Similarly, Moses, according to the rabbinical tradition, lived sexual abstinence in order to maintain a close relationship with God.
– John the Baptist never married.
– Though celibacy was not very common, it was not something unheard of.
► 2. Even if nobody lived celibacy in Israel, we would not have to assume therefore that Jesus was married.
– The evidence shows that He wanted to remain celibate and there are many reasons that make this option commendable and fitting, precisely because being celibate underlines Jesus’ uniqueness in relation to the Judaism of his time.
– Also it is more in accord with his mission. It is obvious that without devaluing marriage, or demanding celibacy from his followers, the cause of the Kingdom of God (Matt 19:12), the love for God that he embodies, are above everything else. Jesus wanted to be celibate in order to convey better that very love.
Maybe you should have tried thinking this out for yourself before posting. It’s not that hard.

How many people in the city of Nazareth knew Jesus was the Messiah (before he started his ministry) besides Mary and Joseph? I feel that the people who were living near Jesus would wonder why he is still single after 20. There is no evidence that it was explained to neighbors, etc. that he was already a Rabbi and chose to remain single.

The sun shines not on married people alone,

Then it is possible many people lived their life and die without being married.

He is Truth.
He is Truth.

Still no evidence?
It appears you DID just pull the whole schtick out of thin air.

There is no evidence that it was explained he was a Rabbi?

Maybe its better to look at it the other way.

Since there is no evidence that anyone had raised the allegation that Jesus was embarrassing his family by not marrying, Jesus had probably already made it CLEAR that he is following the Rabbinic tradition and will remain single. THAT is the evidence you seek 👍

After 50 years of blindly obeying religious dogma I began to ask questions and to look at things with an open mind.

I may not be saved because of my beliefs.

Here is what I believe:

Peace, Love and Humanity for ALL people is what the gospel of Jesus is about. A person who is sincerely devoted to this philosophy is a Christian and therefore incapable of rejecting Jesus. He does not have to belong to a particular church or any church at all. People accuse me of being deceptive.

Craving for power, status, materialism, sexual gratification causes suffering.

I do not believe the Crusades and the Inquisition were works of God but the works of people who thought they could understand God’s mind. Would Jesus have approved of people being tortured in some of the most depraved ways the human mind can conceive?

I don’t go to church regularly because they have become social clubs / popularity clubs where hypocrites pretend to be good Christians for an hour and then go back to worshiping the flesh of ego, selfish pride and indifference to others. It is these same hypocrites who act as if THEY wrote the Bible and have the power to decide my fate in the afterlife.

I believe there are two states of mind- God Consciousness and Worldly Suffering.

I believe Heaven is not for when we die and face God’s judgment. We are facing it now and this is why remaining in a state of constant God Consciousness is important. Yes I know, it is not “Catholic” to think like this.

At least the 10 Commandments were given to Moses directly by God in a timely manner. The Bible on the other hand was put into book form over 300 years after the resurrection. The gospels of the other seven apostles were omitted because according to the council of Nicaea they were “heresy and the work of the devil”. I am not making this up. You can research it for yourself. I can not help but feel that some things got lost in translation.

It would have been very self evident in Jewish culture that Jesus was a Rabbi…Christ would not have needed to explain anything. People in the Bible also addressed Christ as Rabbi so we know it was a known thing.
The Tassels
As a Jewish rabbi, Jesus probably wore tassels on the corners of his garment. The Jewish practice of wearing these tassels developed from God?s command in Numbers 15: ?You are to make tassels on the corners of your garments?so you will remember all the commands of the LORD? (v. 38-39).

I agree with you. I am just confused as you are on how he came up with such an objection on Jesus.

I don’t know. In the past, it’s almost always led into Ye Olde…“Jesus must have been homosexual” schtick…but I don’t know if that’s the case in this thread.

I just want to know when WHEN he became a Rabbi. It is true he was called a Rabbi by his followers but did this happen long before he was 30? I know this sounds trivial.

I also want to know what happened to the missing years of Jesus from age 12 to 30. At age 12 he got separated from his parents for three days while in Galilee and he was found teaching in a temple.

When found he said to his parents that he needed to be about his father’s work. To me this means he was **now **starting his ministry. Maybe THIS is when he became a Rabbi. Then there is nothing else about Jesus until age 30 when he tells his parents again that he needs to be about his fathers work.

There is nothing mentioned about him teaching to people from age 12 to 30 or anything else for that matter for those 18 years. **Keep in mind that this was the most important person to walk the earth and there is an 18 year gap in his life.
**
Just curious.
