For the same reason men do, they loved themselves and hated God. They refused to be subject to God’s will. It is the same attitued evinced by many in these forums. But God is patient - up to a point - because he knows we are little more than dust.

The fallen angels aren’t and never will be dead. They will live forever apart from God, by their own choosing. As to why they would choose it, it seems to me that, just like humans, some people would rather be right than happy.

I figure they’re like the people who will not submit to any legitimate authority–the kind of people who hate any boss they have, quit all jobs the first time their pride is wounded, and think they would do a better job than any supervisor no matter how woefully unsuited they would be.

The issue with pride is the same we see in men: the belief that “I can be my own God” or that “I can be like God”. The belief that I can somehow make things go my way rather than God’s way.

That’s what made their rebellion so unforgivable. They were right there with God they knew God is all powerful yet they still let their pride get the best of them. With man, pride is there too, but no humans look right into the face of God literally every day and still choose pride. The angels were literally right there with God and saw Him on the throne every day and still chose to try to fight Him. That’s insane.

More likely they did not. More likely they thought they were right, and being right was more important than having a relationship with God. They wanted what they wanted, when they wanted it, and nothing else mattered. I would imaging they were as shorted sighted as any of us prideful sinful blind human beings

i’m sorry i just cant imagine how pride can blind anyone, much less a lot, against an infinite force of unimaginable power.

in my own experience i only experience pride against something i that i have chances of.
otherwise anything that is much larger than i am is always a humbling experience.

…lets say some angels got rebellious and started murmuring against God over his attention and love shown to man. At a certain point God had enough and confounded the dissidents by putting the idea into their minds that they could win. Thus then the open rebellion.
