I looked at the beginning of Sirach and was so far liking it, the wisdom was there and I saw a beauty and I though that how could it be rejected by Luther? why though? why?
Some of the Jews excluded Sirach from the Jewish canon. Yet, St. John Chrysostom used it (eleven references in his homilies). Luther’s preface to Sirach, 1533: “Yet the ancient fathers did not include this one among the books of sacred Scripture, but simply regarded it as the fine work of a wise man. And we shall let it go at that.”I looked at the beginning of Sirach and was so far liking it, the wisdom was there and I saw a beauty and I though that how could it be rejected by Luther? why though? why?
Jews who rejected those 7 books, also rejected Jesus and His Church. Those are the Jews Luther followed.I looked at the beginning of Sirach and was so far liking it, the wisdom was there and I saw a beauty and I though that how could it be rejected by Luther? why though? why?
