Why Did You Convert To Islam?

Is there anyone here who is an ex-Christian who converted to Islam? I would like to ask what made you desire converting to Islam. This isn’t really the type of thread to debate, rather discuss. I’d appreciate it also if some of the other viewers kept this thread a clean sleet for its intended purpose. When a thread is started about Islam, comment posts sky-rocket.
 
Well since no one else has ventured, I’ll offer some hearsay.

I know a few people who have done this, and in both cases the person said that he or she believed in God, but did not believe that Jesus was the Son of God in the sense that Christians did. Both of them had done some research on this, and of course found that they couldn’t prove it one way or the other - but in the end their gut feeling was that Islam was more plausible. Also, in one case the person mentioned that he liked the fact that Muslims are required to fulfill certain requirements in their daily life, which he didn’t perceive as happening in the same way in Christianity.

This is what baffles me about Muslim converts, I have watched a few videos about time I was starting my conversion, because I wanted a broad stroke in understanding of other faiths. When watching them they were looking for deeper faith and almost to the point of requirements to meet everyday like you had said. That goes well with our society and how people would rather be told what to do rather than make decisions on their own.
 
In my country many people convert to Islam because of social pressure and the lure from the religion, epecially marriage, position in the government, etc…

Justin, when you have nothing to your name except some goats and grass you really need to be IN the community before you can even expect any crumps of benefit. Some desperate women marry muslim men and convert into islam only to find themselves strapped & stuck in the religion when their muslim husbands dump them. Some convert into the religion because they are surrounded by muslim influencers. But the HUGE majority of muslims are BORN into islam and were never given a choice to choose a religion. By the time they are of age, they would already be filled largely with islamic claims (all un-validated but drummed into them daily to become fact) & muslims and blocked out from other religious challenges.

Not forgetting, many of them live under the poverty line and have next to nothing to lose to jump at offers of cash & women (ie islamic heaven) for committing carnage against the kafirs (non-muslims).

That’s why relatively speaking islam does not do well in developed countries where everyone has equal opportunities to garner wealth for themselves.

In sub-cultures where racism is rampant, islam fares relatively well because muslims often feel ostracised or looked down (from some reason or another). That’s when they band together very strongly in defence against the majority secular society & non-muslims.

PS. Islam teaches the muslims to support each other against the non-muslims. And to kill where necessary or when the ‘enemy’ does not submit. This is a perfect solution for driving up emotions against a common enemy (even if its just a perception). It is a very dangerous religion.
 
Although Indonesia is a relatively free country for Christians compared with other Islamic countries, there are much pressure from Moslems to Christians, and this pressure sometimes make some Christians convert to Islam.
These pressures includes prohibition to make place of worship, church burning, career in government.
 
People do convert to Islam because of convenient. You see a lot of that in Saudi Arabia with the oversea workers.
 
From my experience it is because islam is easy to understand,there is no trinity, its all about strict and pure monotheism

Most people that i talked to say that they always searched for islam just didnt know it,they see christianity as corrupted.

One former catholic guy said that he always believed in one God,and christianity was never for him ,saints and all that stuff,the only thing that kept him in christianity was his love for Jesus.Then he found out islam accepts Jesus and that was “it” for him,today he is a muslim and has been so for 10 years now

I worked with Indonesians on board a merchant ship. Some of them are Christians and most are muslims. I was told by the christians that there are indeed discriminations suffered by christians. It is very difficult for the Christians to build their churches in Muslim dominated towns and villages.

No, that isn’t quite what I meant. Muslims aren’t really less or more able to think for themselves than many Christians.

Rather, the individuals I know wanted a religious belief that they didn’t see as being left at the church door every Sunday, something that was integrated into their everyday like.

Of course this is available in Christianity, and is even required in some branches, but it isn’t as visible as it is in Islam.

Thats true,most fo the converts that i know are much more religious then muslims that are born as muslims…even after 10 years.Today some of them are missionaries

One famous american missionary is Yusuf Estes,before he used to be an evangelical pastor,his father was also a pastor(his whole family were “born again” christians)…his father and mother also converted to islam,its an amazing life story,i recommend you to read about him

Yet when the Muslims are the minority in other countries, they demand to have their mosques built - a little ironic.

I can’t believe someone would become a Muslim because it is easier. God is complex,we will never understand the fullness of Him on earth. As far as Christian as corrupt? I can’t believe that either to be a reason. Christians do NOT have a history of forceably taking over countries to convert ones to their faith. Christians support free will,that can’t be corruption. If muslims do, I can see the disconnect here.
 
What do I think some convert to Islam. I think there are many reasons. I think the largest reason is the hatred for the United States. It would be the best expression to outwardly show hate for the US. Think about it,Islam is the ONLY faith that would show the many disagreements of the US( being a Christian nation,support for Israel among others).
