Why do atheists ignore miracles?

A miracle is an anomaly. It is NOT the norm. most people define things by the way they normally behave.

For example, say a particular woman usually wears make up, dresses fashionably, does up her hair etc. Her coworkers see her that way each day for years, one day she shows up totally undone, dirty ill fitting clothes, hair a wreck, no makeup. That is an anomaly, they wonder what is wrong with her, they say “That is just not like her!”

So, it is a curious thing that many people seem to define god not by what is seen day to day, but by the occasional anomaly. People see the miracle/anomaly and suddenly they say “God is great, look what he did!”

People who don’t believe wonder why the believers define their god by the occasional anomaly, rather than what happens billions of times each day.

Most of us define things by the norm in nearly every area of life, but some turn that inside out when it comes to matters of faith. We count on gravity to hold us down to the earth, if one day gravity stopped holding us down, would we be inclined to say “Wow, look how awesome gravity is! It is behaving totally against it’s character!” or would we be more likely to say “Hey, something very very weird/wrong is going on”

since atheists don’t have faith in a god, or believe that anomalies are the defining factor of a thing, they don’t see miracles as proof of a god.

They ignore them because they** do not want** to believe in God. So they have** faith** that these miracles were somehow contrived and didn’t truly occur. The most amazing explanation I had heard about the Fatima apparitions was that it was a UFO. 😃

Atheists love to be subject to no one. The very existence of God makes them morally culpable and they hate this. Therefore, they do not want to believe in the existence of God.
:sad_yes:

Militant atheists have come close to ruining my faith before eg Dawkins and Hitchens.

One thing that kept me faithful was miracles, how can any atheist ignore the miracles of Padre Pio, Fatima, Guadeloupe, Lourdes and the miracles of the Eucharist?
They are blind and even hard-hearted … they can’t even see the existence of God in His creation, which is evident to simple children. They have no excuse if they can not see God in His creation because the Scriptures says that the existence of God can be seen in creation, leaving no atheist with any good excuse for his atheism. God bless you.

This says it all in a nutshell.👍

How?

Stubbornness. Dogged belief in self. Their denial of the faith is all premised upon their own faith in the silly principles of atheism. Ignore them. Atheism is the vice of the intellectuals and pseudo intellectuals. It’s a species of pride. Don’t fear them. Pity them and pray for them. Never argue. Always be kind.
