The fact that it is not a “service.” Service is not in the bible. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is a sacrifice, in an unbloody manner, of Jesus Christ to the Father in atonement for our sins. NOT a “re-sacrifice” as you have heard, as that is impossible. Why a sacrifice? Saints Peter and Paul admonish us us to offer both spiritual and physical sacrifices to God (1 Peter 2:5, Romans 12:1) - our very bodies as a living sacrifice to God. Read those verses. There is no worship without sacrifice in the bible. Thus, worship and sacrifice are both contained in the Mass. What makes the Catholic church service better?
Yes, Christ’s blood was enough, but the Prophet Malachi (1:11) states that a perpetual oblation/sacrifice will be offered to God - that is what Peter and the Eleven, and later Paul, actually did. That is what has occurred since Day1 in the Church, which Christ founded. This unbroken line exists only in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.
The “reformers” radically altered the Gospel into what is now only a “service” with crackers and grape juice - if they have even kept that! No sacraments as instituted by Christ. A pale, watered down version of the Church which Christ founded. So many without baptism - which makes one Christian in the first place! Constantly changing beliefs on issues of faith and morals. Marriage, contraception and abortion are but three of them.
The Catholic (which means “universal” in the Greek) Church cannot change, because the faith was “once for all delivered to the Saints.” (Jude 1:3). And, she is so under attack that her members - me especially - get our dander up when challenged. Please disregard that and focus on the truth which is in the sacred deposit of faith which has been handed on for 2,000 years.
