I can guarantee you that survey does not include the Catholic Church.Many Catholics, over 50% according to one survey, will acknowledge these marriages as “true” as any outside the Church. I don’t know about all gay couples, but the two I do know have never evinced any upset or lack of fulfillment because some strangers might not approve of their marriages. Or mentioned it at all. One couple did evince upset when the hurricane took out the water supply for over a week because their place is in a rural area and it took a while to get to them.
And I can also guarantee you that the gay community very much cares about the how strangers view them, otherwise they wouldnt claim to “feel like second class citizens.”
