Most evangelicals do not do “street” style evangelism. You’d have to be pretty committed to do it today, and most people are really lazy and unless you do it in the right way it comes off as creepy to a lot of people today. With the publication of “The Calvary Road” by Roy Hession in the early 1920s. It was the first time a “manual of evangelism” had ever been published, establishing a systematic method of converting people to Christ. Street evangelism has been around forever, of course, but this was the first time there was a systematic guide to make it happen.
Billy Graham popularized it with his Crusades, and “non-denominational” churches began appearing during the 1970s.
