Also, there is that new find in Yemen, where they dug up an old koran.

The muslim “authorities” will not let anyone fully study it.
I thought the Germans made photocopies of it.

Yes, but from what I remember, not the whole thing - just a few pages and that is where they noticed quite a bit of differences from old to new

Also, they said that they noticed “write” overs on words on the old koran…

If you google yemen koran, you can read the details of their study.

These Germans have been “told” by the muslim “authorities” not to release the documents of their study. That is pretty much what I remember.

“…Bothmer has [sic] painstakingly finished taking more than thirty-five thousand microfilm pictures of the fragments by 1997, and brought the pictures back to Germany (Warraq, 2002, p. 109). It means now Bothmer, Puin and other scholars will finally have a chance to scrutinize the texts and to publish their findings freely. …”

“In Muslim belief, the advent of the last prophet, (that is) Prophet Mohammad was mentioned in all the previous scriptures just as the Christians believe that the advent of Christ was mentioned in Jewish Scriptures”

This is Exactly where it all goes haywire. Prophet Mohammad (self proclaimed) found that this is the only way he can make himself heard by making this seem true. There is no hint of Mohammad anywhere.

With all due respect, there is nothing new you have brought here.

MJ
All Prophets were self proclaimed… No man ever saw God pointing out… hey lookie → there is my Guy!

So, by your definition all Prophets are fake, i guess… As people couldn’t either see God or the Angel/Devil for that matter!

Please, do keep an open mind… Its always best to do some conclusive research before you reach a judgement!

The real golden question is: why do Muslims believe in a book [the Bible] that they say is corrupted? Any idea that is based on falsehood is itself false.
Well… this book wasn’t always corrupted… I haven’t studied Bible but perhaps people believe they might still be able to find out some original word of God… or maybe something that one can relate to.

Its just for study’s sake. Scholars (the good ones, regardless of any religion) often try to keep an open mind about things and try to attain as much knowledge about other religions as they have about theirs.

Answer: The Biblical texts are probably used for study and research purposes by Muslim scholars. I havent read one… because I am not a scholar and i dont have a lot of free time. Perhaps some scholars may want to convince Christains and Jews with their own texts. Muslims are “magically excluded to this rule”… mainly because of the long tradition of memorizing the whole Quran… Yes! The Whole Quran (all 30 sections of it). Even today. The people who do that are called Hafiz-e-Quran. (memoriser or protector of Quran). I dont suppose Christains or Jews have such a tradition or ever had one.

**Ah the myth of the perfectly preserved Q’uran whose text has never changed a whit. Which stands up to examination about as well as a rice pudding would to a nuclear explosion at point blank range. There are numerous copies of the Q’uran from the early days of Islam around the world with textual variations. **

Answer: All the numerous copies of Quran available to public access only vary in translations. The original text in all is the same. Unless of course, its a cult religion like Ahmedis/Qadianis/Mirzais (basically 3 names for the same group of people). I heard there was another cult religion in Yemen sometime back. Many others come and become obselte with the passage of time.

Ah but Islam contradicts itself here and by no means all sects within Islam agree he could not read or write…**

I have never heard of or ever seen a contradition before on this matter. Please elaborate…

Not to mention that a good part of the original was burned a few years after Mohammed’s death.
So some Shia’s claim, but even all from the Shia sect dont agreee to this. Moreover, if you memorize something and hundreds of people memorize it along with you, its difficult to loose it; unless ofcourse someone burns them as well.

Most of these things that you mention are often based on useless propaganda and have no scientific or intellectual standing.

I agree that the muslims probably use the bible like the Mormons just for appearances sake. In reality they probably think the Bible is pure foolishness. Didn’t one of the popes say that Mohammed was/is evil!?
What you think and what really is are actually two different things.

Muslims have existed for 1400 years. They predate Protestants and many other Christain sects. Mormons came… what 300-400 yrs ago?
Bible is studied with reverence (because it is believed to be the true word of God, although somewhat lost with the passage of time. Nevertheless it is fully respected unlike Christains who love “burning” things.

Muslims study Bible for research purposes or merely to understand and counter Christain arguments. e.g. It is mentioned in some volumes of Bible that intoxicants (alcohalic drinks) and consumption of pork is forbidden; yet even devout Christains do it today.

Lastly, I dont really care what your Popes say. History tells people that your Popes have been responsible for causing a number of bloody, pointless wars and spreading hate accross continents. Good Christains need to avoid listening to Popes, just like Muslims need to avoid the likes of Taliban and other fanatics.

It seems woefully inconsistent and lacking in intellectual integrity.
