It is allowed in my diocese but I know when I was in RCIA I was not comfortable going up for a blessing so I didn’t. It didn’t hurt my spiritual growth at all. If the OP isn’t comfortable going up then she shouldn’t but before she goes up I would suggest she ask her team leader at RCIA to confirm if it is a practice that this particular parish encourages.
I"m currently in RCIA. They usher us out after the Homily. We are told to stay in the pews if we attend other masses. After attending services in Roman Catholic churches for better than 25 years, it is a bit frustrating too.
My advise would be that you should call, email, or otherwise ask your sponsor or instructor about this… do it tonight, or first thing in the AM. At any road, I’d mentally send them all the love, charity, and mercy to the people who are doing this. I bet they don’t realize what they are doing.
Myself, when I do attend other services I make use of the time for a good old fashioned 5 finger prayer I was taught as a kid in the Lutheran church. (different church)
It is sort of like having the prayer beads with us all the time. Yes, Lutherans use beads too.
Thumb. - Pray for those close to us.
Index finger - pray for our leaders and Priests who show us the way
Middle finger - pray for our public leaders and people of influence over us including Bishops and the Church leaders
Ring finger - pray for those who are weak, ill, or in personal stress of any sort. (this is where I’d pray for those folks)
Pinky finger - pray for ourselves and to be strong to be good Apostles of Christ in our daily life
