Why do people do this during communion?

People get mad at us so that we can show God how patient we are.

It is a great gift from God when someone is angry with us. It gives us an opportunity to practice charity in spite of the person’s anger toward us. It is an opportunity to show God how much we love him. That it happens at Mass, during reception of Holy Communion, makes it even more so.

In the beginning DH and i have gotten looks as well, but we do try to stay out of people’s way by sitting in the back at the end by the wall. We still get looks now and then though. I remember seeing a new guy that came to mass recently. He too would get looks and he stopped showing up to mass :(. At the end of the mass he would try to approach the priest but some made him feel uncomfortable. So i approached him and gave him the priest’s cell phone number and told him it’d probably be easier to reach him by phone and set up an appt to meet with him.

Yes pretty much alot of the people in the parish does just so if people want to reach him they can. The one day when the priest’s mom was in the hospital he got alot of text messages with prayers and all his cell number is also on the bulletin. I don’t see anything wrong with it?.

I didn’t say there was anything wrong with it - I’m just surprised. Do you have a small parish? Mine is like 4,000+ families… just trying to imagine if we all were able to call the Priest on his cell. I’m thinking he’d get a LOT of calls.
