You need to decide on your own if you are truly Catholic or if your beliefs are not fully represented by the title. Don’t let fundamentalists tell you that you have to agree with everything to call yourself Catholic. I’ve met a self-proclaimed “Jewish-Catholic-Wiccan.” She’s still a part of the church, regardless of what those here would tell you.
Being a Catholic isn’t a title. That’s like saying I can be German just because I happen to think beer is cool and I like the language. Most Germans would agree that does not a German make.

There are some core beliefs that you must obey to be a Catholic of good standing. To put yourself under the Authority of Rome (which is what you do when you call yourself Catholic) and to be cavalier about those core beliefs is very dangerous. It is dangerous to the person and it is dangerous to the Church.

There is a difference between Franny who is struggling with doubt and the teachings of the Church and someone that outright rejects the core beliefs. The Church treats them differently.

You say you respect the Church’s stance on the Eucharist. Thank you for that. But please also consider not encouraging those who are not German from holding themselves out to be German.

Healthy according to whom?
I thought it was obvious that it was according to me, especially since I used the phrase, “I believe” with it. And yes, I think that the definition of communion is better portrayed when open, rather than closed, to the community. I know that’s not what you think, but you should be able to see how others can see it differently.
And thank you for re-affirming my faith, because to be frank, it is a struggle. You’ve just provided me with the tipping point I needed. 👍
I think you’re crazy, hon.

Congratulations, you are an internet forum cliché.

I disagree with some beliefs and agree with others and have spoken to a couple of priests who just quote the papal bulls/doctrines.My differences can not be reconciled.I repeat that being involved in this forum has made up my mind.I thank all of you for your suggestions, advice and knowledge which you have shared with me.
I have met a lot of very supportive christians from different denominations who have been very helpful and supportive in my journey.I even received an invitation to join the orthodox and old catholic church, both of which share many of my views.

And unfortunately, you haven’t understood yet that it is about GOD - not you.
**You’re trying to live according to your will not His. **

**Until you follow Him on HIS terms, you’ll never get it. His Church is not a buffet where you can pick and choose what you want to believe in. You either accept everything he has given you or you reject it all. **
When it comes to his Body - the Church - the cafeteria is closed.

Hello Elvisman,

You sound very self righteous! You sound like some of the other judgemental critics on this forum.**Maybe Gods’ will is to lead me to a church where I will be accepted.**Where the emphasis is on the bible rather than blind adherence to Roman Dogma! I have met more loving, gracious and spiritual people in other denominations who would welcome me with open arms. It’s poeple like you who drive more moderate and liberal catholics away.

Hello **Maybe Gods’ will is to lead me to a church where I will be accepted.**Where the emphasis is on the bible rather than blind adherence to Roman Dogma!
Franny, roman dogma as what you like to call it, is based on the Bible. The Church compiled the first bible. Everything it teaches regarding homosexuality, adultery, pre-marital sex are not made up by men, these are all found in the bible. If you don’t agree with Church teachings then definitely you don’t agree with the bible.

Excuse me,but not believing that women can’t be priests,or the Pope is infallible,or that gays should be treated with dignity does not mean I do not follow the bible.I follow the ten commandments, read my bible, and live my faith. Many catholics need to be less judgemental.Jesus said:"Take Out The Speck From Your own Eye,Before Pointing It Out In Someone Elses, and also said"Judge Not Less Ye Be Judged’.I do not see many Catholics living what Jesus taught.Especially not on this forum!

Not self-righteous at all. If I were self-righteous, I would be telling you how much better a Christian I was than you - and I haven’t done that. I am merely pointing to your rejection of the will of God.

God’s will is not to lead anybody away from the fullness of truth - that is your will. YOUR will may be to go elswhere than the fullness of Christ (Eph. 1:22-23) but it is certainly not God’s will. That’s why I told you that you have yet to realize that it is not about you - it’s about God.

Also - what is “Roman dogma”? There is Catholic dogma, which as
Mayita30 pointed out is based on the Word of God. Your skewed version of the truth is based on the words of mere men. As God tells us in Rev 3:16 - there’s no room in the fullness of truth for “liberal” or “moderate”. We must be on fire for God’s truth - not lukewarm, otherwise he will spit you out of his mouth.

If a nice muffin basket and an invitation presented by a well-meaning and gracious Protestant welcome-wagon is what you desire, then you do not possess the fullness of truth that is only found in the Church.
