Thank you, Josie. Saint James tells us that the prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. In other words God’s ways are different from our own. I’ll pray for them.
Hopefully they will find their way back home.
Grace and peace to you too, Mick.Thank you, Josie. Saint James tells us that the prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.
Grace and peace,

Peter,Yes.
No.
BTW, are you saying that it doesn’t “happen in Protestantism just as much as in Catholicism”? Or are you just upset that I pointed that out?
Peter,
I never brought Protestantism into this conversation, you did. It’s about why people LEAVE the Church, not specifically why to people leave the Catholic CHurch for the Protestants.
I am not upset, but I do feel a little slighted by someone who just assumes I’m not Catholic or that I specifically left for another church.Enough of personal feelings and slights:
Not everyone leaves because they want it “easier”, or because they want to get away with a favorite sin and not feel guilty. Nor do they return because they realize they were “stupid”. I am case in point. I know the hurt that I felt back then, and why I felt it, and who was contributing to it (members of the Catholic Church) and yes maturity has led me to a better understanding of the Catholic Church as an adult because I researched about the real doctrine, not the garbage I was fed as a child that confused me.
Am I to understand that this was your personal experience. I understand if you do not wish to answer. God Bless! My question is why does it need to go to where a person has to leave the Church to screw up and nearly DIE, then find Christ (outside of ANY denomination), heal all their wounds in therapy, then finally be brave enough to return despite the resistance from members who would rather I just stayed with another denomination and not imposed on *their *
Yes, a great contribution.LOL!!!

Because that would be a made up lie. And the other is common historical truth known by anyone who cares to look it up. Besides Catholic church has Henry’s original request for divorce that was denied.Thats dont sound very nice, what If I said, why would I want to join a
church that killed people who didn’t swear allegiance to it.
Hi Mario,If you are alluding to the inquisition above and the myth of 100,000,000 (more than population of Europe at the time) of “bible believing” protestants presumably killed by the church during inquisitions, I invite you to research the subject a little deeper. There is a wealth of information at your fingertips. People have no excuse today any more.
No, in my opinion, Catholics leave the Catholic Church for the same reason why that Pastor from the Seventh-Day Adventist, David Pendleton, left his church for the Catholic Church: Boredom.Do you think people generally leave Catholicism for reasons of conscience or simply because they aren’t much interested in spiritual matters of any kind?
Curiously,
Mick

Right, ultimate idolatry. You follow the bible and I will follow the God. You "believe in the Bible, a book (you even say it "bible believing “christian”) ,and I will believe in God.I left the Catholic church in 1977. I attended a bible study from a Baptist church and discovered that the Bible is what we are to follow (not what man said), as pretty well all teaching in the Catholic church comes from men and tradition. The Bible is the book of instruction, after all, it is God’s word and we will be judged by it in the end judgement. All this pomp and ceremony in the Catholic church does not amount to a hill of beans. Who declared that the Pope was Holy, (man), only God is Holy, who declared that a priest could forgive sin,(man) ,only God can forgive sin. Catholics look to rank and file in the church for direction, God is our only direction and we find that direction in His word, the Holy Bible.God’s true church has no denomination, His church are the called ones of God, those who are saved. Do not forget to read and follow the instruction, the Holy Bible. Ralph
Where does this magic power of the priest come from to change a piece of bread and some wine into the body and blood of Christ, can you show me that in scripture. I also asked why Catholics call the mass a sacrifice, Jesus said that there was no more sacrifice for sin, who is right, obviously Christ. You are not following instructions from the Bible. RalphOh, I see. I thought you were suggesting that I should start the thread. Well, pressure’s off, then. Leave it to Ralph.
Deferentially,
Mick

John perhaps?Where does this magic power of the priest come from to change a piece of bread and some wine into the body and blood of Christ, can you show me that in scripture. I also asked why Catholics call the mass a sacrifice, Jesus said that there was no more sacrifice for sin, who is right, obviously Christ. You are not following instructions from the Bible. Ralph
I too found many inconsistencies between the bible and the RCC.Right, ultimate idolatry. You follow the bible and I will follow the God. You "believe in the Bible, a book (you even say it "bible believing “christian”) ,and I will believe in God.
Your final authority is a book, mine is God and his church.
When Jesus said I am the vine and you are the branches, did He mean that He was a tree. RalphJohn perhaps?
6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
You know what. If I were sitting at the last supper with Jesus, and he passes me a peace of bread and says “eat this, this is my body”, would I say, no stupid, it’s just a peace of bread you tore off the loaf. Or would I perhaps believe it is his body, because the son of God is saying it to me? Well you see to us Catholics it is a body of Christ. Why? because Jesus said so. Call it blind faith.
Do you believe that the Bible is the word of God? RalphRight, ultimate idolatry. You follow the bible and I will follow the God. You "believe in the Bible, a book (you even say it "bible believing “christian”) ,and I will believe in God.
Your final authority is a book, mine is God and his church.
Jesus didn’t drive a pick up truck full of Bibles and threw them at people and shouted here, read that, believe in it and be saved. No, he taught people his holy word by speaking to them. And so did the apostles for centuries.Do you believe that the Bible is the word of God? Ralph
Well, to those of you who want to read the bible literally, he should be yes. To those of us who have enough reason to know that it is a library and not a book, and that if you don’t understand something it’s always good to ask the author what he meant, it does not mean that at all. God has already clarified all that to his apostles and their successors. You just chose not to listen and live on the fringes, hanging on to a book, since that is all you have left. When Jesus said I am the vine and you are the branches, did He mean that He was a tree. Ralph
The question was, do you believe that the bible is the word of God. RalphJesus didn’t drive a pick up truck full of Bibles and threw them at people and shouted here, read that, believe in it and be saved. No, he taught people his holy word by speaking to them. And so did the apostles for centuries.
It is only later that they found it necessary to write something down so that it could be preserved and reach wider audience even though literacy still prevents people from reading it in many parts of the world.
So, where in line did you stop believing that succession? You now choose to only read and accept the written word as you understand it. You only have the text, but Catholic church has the meaning and the text.
