Why do people love twisting the Pope's words so much?

Why does his holiness keep saying things that are so easily twisted?

HH Francis’ willingness to speak off-the-cuff and casually is both one of his greatest strengths and weaknesses.

Bizarrely enough, IMO, he and Trump have that in common.

Please don’t insult Pope Francis by comparing him to Trump.

Pope Francis doesn’t speak with vulgarity and call people names and make fun of those with disabilities.

Jim

The media twists EVERYTHING around, not just what the Pope says. They have an agenda and have really proved themselves to be untrustworthy, especially these last few years.

‘bad’ in this case is relative, depending upon the person making the assertion.

I stand by my statement that Trump and Francis both speak casually at times, and that this can be both a strength and a fault. That’s it. End of story.

Pax vobiscum.

Indeed, why does Pope Francis not correct the liberal interpretations of his remarks?
I will confess, this is what makes me scratch my head. That and how he keeps taking interviews that that 90 some year old atheist who doesn’t take notes.

However, I THINK the Pope’s view on this is that any media coverage that the media and secularists think is positive coverage for the Church is good in the long run. I think he feels this could warm hearts of secularists to the the Gospel and eventually the Church.

I also think the Pope feels that devout Catholics should be strong enough in their faith not to let the news bother them.

Finally, Pope Francis isn’t a theologian and/or philosopher like Pope John Paul II & Benedict XVI, and wasn’t a member of the Curia or Nuncio like Benedict XVI, Paul VI, John XXIII, Pius XII, Pius XI. He’s a pastor and acts more like a parish priest or local bishop (which I think has it’s pros and cons).

However, I do think being ambiguous at times, while it might help in some places / situations, can be confusing. If I was his adviser, I would encourage him to either be more specific or to address ambiguities and/or misunderstanding as they arise.

God bless

Pope Francis speaks to people with compassion, which is why he’s misunderstood.

Trump speaks with hatred and rudeness. He’s not misunderstood.

That’s the difference between the two when it comes to speaking off the cuff.

Jim

Trump may not be misunderstood, but his words are often deliberately twisted, like with the whole MS-13 thing not too long ago.

It was presented as if he was talking about Mexicans in general. Or illegal aliens. One of the two.

The proof is in what he says is what he Tweets.

When was the last time Pope Francis called anyone animals ?

Jim

“We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in — and we’re stopping a lot of them — but we’re taking people out of the country,” Trump responded. “You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals. And we’re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before.”

While Mims referred to MS-13, Trump did not explicitly mention the gang.
Misinformation about what Pope Francis says, can’t be compared to Donald Trump.

Jim

So, you claim to be completely omniscient of all of Donald Trump’s life experiences that formed him, his intentions in every act and word he has ever spoken, and his motivations in everything ? In addition to being completely unbiased? Because that’s the only way you can make such generalizations.

I’m no lover of Pres. Trump or HH Francis.

I just think we should give both of them the benefit of the doubt and seek out primary sources and make our own decisions, as opposed to listening to the drivel of any of the party-line broadcasters.

If we give Francis the benefit of the doubt, Trump deserves it too. In God’s eyes, they’re both the same.

Sorry, using the vulgarity, name calling and rudeness which Donald Trump uses, is unacceptable for a president.

There is nothing misunderstood about this.

Jim

This latest media “mis-event” was a private communication between the Pope and one other person. The Vatican has made a point of not responding to reported Papal private conversations. So don’t expect to hear anything.

Animals is an accurate term for MS-13. Its actually one of the nicer things you can call them.
