As the law was written, heterosexuals were not allowed to commit sodomy either. So, why do people say that these were laws that singled out homosexuals?
Anti-sodomy laws varied by state. According to this article, some states did single out homosexuals and even in states where the law applied to everyone it wasn’t enforced against heterosexuals as rigorously. As the law was written, heterosexuals were not allowed to commit sodomy either. You’ll have to come up with a better source than Wikipedia. But assuming that homosexuals were sometimes singled out in the law, can you name an example of a homosexual that was actually convicted and put in prison for it? Would homosexuals still be against it if the anti-sodomy laws didn’t single out homosexuals?Anti-sodomy laws varied by state. Come up with your own dadgummed source then! lolYou’ll have to come up with a better source than Wikipedia.
glapn.org/sodomylaws/sensibilities/introduction.htm has loads of citations of cases throughout numerous states showing people who’ve been arrested and imprisoned for violating sodomy laws. You’ll have to come up with a better source than Wikipedia. Do a Google search “anti sodomy laws U.S.”Archaeopteryx,
but I want to know about sodomy laws and their enforcement in the United States.
While I was able to find some convictions for the crime of sodomy none they don’t seem to be example cases of some one being singled out; most of the examples that I found were examples of some one forcing sodomy on an unwilling participant. The exception being some group of males called the Bolton 7. But for them it wasn’t just sodomy, but that the age of consent for homosexual sex was different (higher) than heterosexual sex and one of the participants was under the homosexual age of consent by 6 months. It was also still illegal for more than two people to engage in sexual activity.Archaeopteryx,
Can you name specific people who this happened to in the United States? I didn’t see specific names mentioned in the link you gave. And I know that homosexuals are singled out in Muslim countries, but I want to know about sodomy laws and their enforcement in the United States.
So, the enforcement of it in the U.S. was administered in cases that most people would consider acts of criminal perversion is what I’m getting from this. While I was able to find some convictions for the crime of sodomy none they don’t seem to be example cases of some one being singled out; most of the examples that I found were examples of some one forcing sodomy on an unwilling participant. Concictions seem to have been successful under cases with othee circumstances. I cam across references to othercases without successful concictions. The only cases i found without other circumstances were outside the USA. Ex:Alan Turing was chemically castrated after he filed a legal complaint of theft against his sex partner. He was convicted of what i think they called “buggering” (sodomy). So, the enforcement of it in the U.S. was administered in cases that most people would consider acts of criminal perversion is what I’m getting from this.
