can anyone recommend a book on the history of the Catholic Church? I feel it is time that I take the time to read and study one.

I am thankful for Saint Peter and Saint Paul for the work they did in their day.

when martin luther died, did he realize that a Christian denomination would be named after him?

I agree with the poster that said Martin Luther denied the divine authority of the Catholic Church and wanted the authority for himself as perhaps did other protestants. I don’t see their authority as divine.

The church is the body of Christ, the body of believers.
The sovereign Lord has never been restricted solely by the Pharisiacal system to deliver his message, and if history is anything to go by, we find that the sovereign Lord worked through messengers outside of the church.

The basic reason God sees fit to do this is that an outsider to the Pharisiacal system who is of the body of Christ will pass down the message undiluted, whereas a pharisee will have bias and will try and appease his colleagues the clergymen. Therefore if the message is sent within the church it either becomes conformed to the worldview of the church or is rejected if it is unfavourable to the networkings of the church.

God will use a faithful prophet from outside of the church to deliver a message 99 out of 100 times and so pharisees remain cog works of the operation and not the dispensation of revelation.

Name even one Prophet of the Old Testament who was not a practicing Jew.

The ones who come to Jesus and never hunger, the ones who believe in Him and never thirst.
So which among them, Dronald?

Are all of them offering the same food or different foods?

Did not Jesus say to eat and drink His blood…so that we will not hunger?

So which among them has the real food that Jesus offered?

Christians believe in the Holy Bible because it bares the written testimony of the real Jesus.
Imagine if each denomination had their own version of Jesus and their own accompanying gospel, how would a new covert determine who is the real Jesus amongst all the look alike manikins of Jesus out there?

You have the Jesus of the Mormons
The Jesus of Jahovah’s witnesses
The Jesus of the Universalist
The Jesus of the New Agers
The Jesus of the Christian scientists
The Jesus of the scientologists
The Jesus of Moonies
The Jesus of the Bahais
The Jesus of Catholics
The Jesus of orthodox
The Jesus of the protestants
The Jesus of the seven day Adventist
The Jesus of anglican

So amongst all this FRANCHISE OF THE NAME OF JESUS who is the real Jesus if you do not have the written testimony that has stood the test of time?

Thanks be to God that we have the Holy Bible in our hands that was agreed upon by the early church fathers. We can confidently by the written testimony know about the real Jesus and test any additional doctrine that the church comes up with by this proven with time benchmark test.

If any church doctrine contradicts the written word agreed upon by the early church fathers, then it must be rejected without question, even if it means war instead of peace.

These words that i have spoken are the truth of Christ and many know it, yet how many people, having no denominational prejudice will say YES and Amen in favor of the Holy Bible as the benchmark test?

We must face the music and consciously ask ourselves, who is changing the times and laws of God by placing church doctrine over and above the written Word of God?

If any church does this then not only do they disagree with the early churches fathers but have become enemies of God by luring innocent and young in faith followers of Christ to a doctrine that bares no similarity to the gospels.

Every denomination without bias has strayed away from the gospel of Jesus Christ and yet they are adimit that they have the authority to do this.

All will say they are the true faithful and the real faith of the saints whilst disbanding with the Great Commission objective to preach the gospel and baptize by water in Christ.

They will teach you another gospel, the gospel of religious tolerance.

I know it’s the Catholic belief that those who love Jesus with all their hearts, do missions trips to spread His word, build Churches in other countries where there are none, set up groups for those suffering with addiction or marriage free of charge, but don’t call themselves “Catholic” are not in the fullness of truth.

If you are a Catholic and you dedicate your life to Christ, if you give away all you have and follow Him then you are in the same Church that I am in. I’m sure that all those who dedicate their lives to Him will meet in Heaven.

Bold and italics mine. This is not to say they have NO truth, dronald. Our New Testaments are the same (various translations not withstanding…). Interpretation, authority, validity of Sacraments, etc… is another matter. The good deeds of those who ease suffering, and bring the Good News is very much appreciated by ALL Christians.

🙂 Sounds nice. Are we still talking about Sola Scriptura? :hmmm:

By the way… what ever happened to Maranatha33?

Jesus started an organization. He means for us to belong to it. Not one similar to it, or one that “fixes the problems” that they perceive in His organization or that “does a better job” than His organization. Jesus means for us to belong to His visible unified Church.

Remember Korah in the Book of Numbers? He was smarter than Moses. He knew a shortcut to the Promised Land. The people wanted to follow him instead of Moses, because he was actually a better leader. But that’s not what God wanted, and in spite of his problems, those who followed Moses were the ones who actually made it to the Promised Land.

You or the person you follow could well be smarter than Jesus’ man, the Pope. But Jesus set the Pope in the “seat of Moses” and means for us to follow him - even if there are other people around who seem to be smarter than him.

We pray for everyone’s salvation…as is the wish of Christ.

Would rather be in the fullness of truth? Or would like to remain in partial truth?

Wouldn’t you like to partake of the real food and real blood?

Or to perpetuate the rebellion of protestantism?

Why do Protestants believe in Bible only? That is simple, truth is because they don’t want to believe in the Only Church Jesus Christ Established over 2000 Years ago, Why? For fear in becoming Catholic, therefore they choose to be disobedient to Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church.

Jesus Christ never said on this Rock I will build my bible, that you must hear, did He? Jesus Christ said: “on this Rock I will build My Church” so therefore it is the Catholic Church that we must hear and it is the only Church that can interpret the bible, why? Because the Catholic Church compiled the New Testament who some Protestants believe only in.

Now, if you are a protestant that says not only on the bible do I believe in, then what else, Jesus Christ? If You say Jesus Christ, Good, then also believe /Trust in His One and Only Church He established, the Catholic Church. Believing in Christ is one thing, even satan believes in Christ, but doing the will of Jesus Christ, becoming a member of the Church founded on Rock, this is true Life and then Life Eternal with Him in His Kingdom. Amen
