Why do protestants name their churches after Saints?

To actually reply to the OP - generally I find most Protestant congregations named after a saint is done so in the same fashion as a hospital wing might be named after a benefactor, or a park or memorial after a hero.

As frequently as not, it isn’t asking for a saint’s heavenly patronage so much as 1) keeping with the tradition of naming churches after saints, and 2) showing honor to a great Christian.

Only in the sacerdotal and episcopal appointments department. Otherwise, she seems like a no-make up, no jewelry, real sturdy kinda gal.

Thank you for that information. My nephew who was raised a Jehovah’s Witness married a gal in a church that looked pretty Catholic but was not so i guess that is what you all are discussing. Now your telling me they have a monkey or chimpanzee who rules over them like in the planet of the apes. I guess I’ll have to google this and see a picture of that primate. It all sounds so unnatural.
