Speaking of blue laws,

we grew up in a coastal town (Gulf Coast), full of Polish fishermen, very Catholic. When my sister left home for her first job, she settled in up “north” in the bible belt. One Sunday afternoon she ran a few errands, and the blue laws in her town would not allow her to purchase light bulbs or pantyhose.

She was allowed to purchase everything else (wish I could remember what that was, this was 20+ years ago!), but not light bulbs:tsktsk: or pantyhose on Sunday!!
We could figure out the light bulbs: maybe changing a light bulb was considered work and work is discouraged on Sunday. But what about pantyhose? What if she needed them to wear with her “Sunday best”?
