unfortunately I don’t have the full passage for these quotes or read any of them…because I have a fear of reading the writings of saints because I might come across something that will lead me into despair or scrupulosity. I came across some of these quotes by one of those “Quotes On The Fewness Saved” websites…I wouldn’t recommend anybody to read those…I did a couple months ago and I’m still trying to get out of a funk of despair, scrupulosity, and “am I good enough?”…this is why I’m asking why priests can be damned, it’s not to put them down…I’m really bothered by this and am trying to find a reason why this is so, so I can move on in peace and not worry about thingsThanks for responding and providing some actual quotes. I would appreciate it though if you would give the source for these quotes in these two writers. I had looked forward to reading the whole passage so that I can fully understand what the writer has said.
The first quote certainly is like the way St. John Chrysostom spoke and he did use such graphic language in his sermons. (You did mispell his name though I noticed.)
