Why do some catholics believe in evolution?

He discovered that all reality, all reality, all that exists in the universe can be contained in five categories…time, force, action, space and matter. And then with that in your mind, listen to Genesis 1:1. “In the beginning,” that’s time…“God,” that’s force, “created,” that’s action, “the heavens,” that’s space, “and the earth,” that’s matter. In the first verse of the Bible God said plainly what man didn’t catalog until the nineteenth century. Everything that could be said about everything that exists is said in that first verse.

So God did not create Time? Does this mean that God is held bound by time? Was there a time when there was no God?

Another poster said it best: time is man’s construct. 24 hours is about the amount of “time” needed for one orbit of the sun.

God did create time. The fact that there was a beginning means that time has a beginning. Time is not greater than Him.

Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 21:6
He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.

Revelation 22:13
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Ok. When did he create time? At what point in Genesis did he say “And let there be time?”

Note, that the creature never knows more than the creator. The creator told us what we need to know. It took Him 6 days to make the world. Why He did it 6 days is His doing? The exact day? We do not need to know if it is not specified.

"Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘He has no hands’?

So, He created time but did not give us the meathod of counting it? Is a day one rotation around the sun? Is a day from sunset to sunrise? Is a day 24 hours exactly? No where in the first part of Genesis does God give us a clock or a calander. What am I missing?

To the contrary – it was evolutionary biologists who proved “Piltdown man” to be a fake. This was a triumph of the scientific method.

I urge you to go to your nearest university or college (most regions of the US have them). Go to the biology department, and talk to a biologist, geneticist, paleontologist, or member of an allied science. Ask this person why she or he studies evolution. Ask what the evidence is. Most scientists will be very willing to take the time to explain it to you.

Not sure about that one. I would think that the modern chicken was bred into existance by men, as were most forms of cattle, horses, dogs, and other domesticated animals.

In other words, more steps.

God did not create time in the beginning, because God is outside time. God created the beginning at least of the space-time universe we inhabit, but God did not create it in the beginning, because God would then be subject to the constraints of time!👍

OK, OK, if you want to get technical. Yes, in a series of incremental steps, natural selection worked upon the genome of one of the dinosaur species that survived the Chicxulub asteroid impact. Over the course of 65 million years, that dinosaur species evolved into birds, and some birds were domesticated by humans in the Neolithic, and some of those domesticated fowl were bred into what we know today as chickens, and God allowed some of those chickens to evolve into football team mascots.

Can you “prove” that…? With more than a reference than “winged” birds?? Chickens are not “specifically” named in the Bible, therefore??? But beyond that, can you prove that God did not first create the egg, and then let it hatch? 😉

MMMMMMMMM, yes…so good!! Have you ever been to one of those rib places…there’s one just off 65 on the north side of Mobile, I can’t remember the name of the place…but they have good barbeque there!!😃

I think so. I love ribs. There are good bbq places all over Alabama. Iate some last night, and I am eating some fried chicken in a little while today.

To hell with cholesterol.
