Why do some Catholics here believe Protestants are all Pro-abortion, Pro-this, Pro-that, Pro-sin?

I was a Protestant.

One church would denounce premarital sex, the other wouldn’t. One would denounce abortion, the other wouldn’t. One would praise homosexuality, one wouldn’t…

In the end you cannot judge any one Protestant based on the actions of another because although they all pull from the same Bible they each get their own unique interpretation of that same Scripture. It’s really kind of alarming when you see just how different they CAN be.
Main difference from my experience is that certain Protestant churches are much more likely to denounce some of the aforementioned sins from the pulput, unlike Catholic churches that typically don’t bring up those controversial issues–abortion excepted–since the trend is to just get along.

Fact is Catholics contracept at the same HIGH rate as Protestants and non-believers.
That maybe true. If it is they are going against the Church. It is not because the they have been told by the church that it is ok to do. They are just as wrong and they to are failing to see the connection.

I never heard a sermon about abortion, homosexual behavior or contraception. I did hear sermons (repeatedly) about the evils of other churches and premarital sex, once I heard a sermon about how Jesus isn’t real and another time a sermon about how people who aren’t members of the church are a waste of space in the pews (never went back to THAT church).

That said, at my current parish my priest speaks up about the hard issues but the difference between priests and protestant ministers is that the priest does not pick what subject he gets to talk about. The liturgy is set and most priests try to form homilies that tie into the scripture readings for the day. As a result I imagine it’s a bit difficult to speak up about certain issues.

🤷

And how do you know the mind of the Church? The trend isn’t to ‘just get along’… but to be loving and charitable to all. Besides, within the Mass the trend is to partake in Christ’s sacrifice, not to just get along, not to ignore evil but to focus on Christ and Christ alone. Or at least that’s my understanding of it. 🙂 I’m a newbie so I’m still learning.

=elgar;8050452]Fact is Catholics contracept at the same HIGH rate as Protestants and non-believers. So according to your reasoning they can’t possibly consider themselves to be “pro-life.” And worst of all I sense they find no sin in it or reason to repent. Correct if I am wrong.
Mortal sin IS Mortal sin. No matter who commits it. And YES they are freely choosing HELL over salvation.

NO I’m NOT judging them: LIKE GOD I am judging there sinful decisions and actions. The FRUITS of there choice.

MAY GOD grant them ALL understanding and humilty to accept HIM and His teaching as expressed by His Church.

God Bless you,
Pat

Judging by the size of their families, I think that most western RCs use contraception.
Certainly you are not suggesting that there are Catholics who don’t live up to Church teaching!

I was answering the op, though.
