It’s really not. You have a problem with the Koran that is also present in the Bible. Do you also disagree with the Bible’s command to stone gay people? Have you ever criticized it on this forum?

Why would I criticize a dead issue?

Point me in the direction of some Christian or Jew who actually advocates for stoning gays, and I will weigh in on it.

There are real world incidents of gays being killed or jailed in Muslim countries today.

That makes it a living issue for Muslims, that Muslims need to address, no?

My merely pointing out, as a matter of fact, that it is currently occurring does not imply anything except that some current Muslim believers have a problem that currently living Christians and Jews do not.

No actually, what does matter is how closely any Holy Book corresponds to truth.

If you are going to base your beliefs about the truth upon how other people, who purport to believe something but don’t actually live by it, act, you will completely miss the truth by being mislead.

All the Evil One has to do is call himself “Catholic,” do some nasty stuff, and you will be fooled.

Same thing with Islam.

So if the belief system is to have any validity, what must be looked into is the actual belief system, not what various hangers on say or do.

At the risk of @BoomBoomMancini accusing me of advocating for the torture of children and old ladies, let’s provide some context, shall we?

Suppose a terrorist cell was planning the use of a dirty nuclear bomb in a large American city that could kill hundreds of thousands and severely injure many more. Suppose one of the terrorists is captured.

Are you saying the use techniques like cramped confinement or sleep deprivation should not EVER be used to possibly obtain information that could save those innocent people?

Seems to me your absolutist stance against mild forms of torture, like being compelled to wear a diaper – I’ll have to remind myself that putting a diaper on my three month old grandson is now considered torture – means that you are willing to permit the deaths and sufferings of hundreds of thousands for the sake of an ideological talking point.

Sounds very moral and upright to me.

I will also remember not to torture myself next time I go outside and there are insects in the vicinity.

Have we really gone this far into kookiness?
