Hmmm, I see Jehovah’s Witness beliefs. Evangelical Protestant beliefs. Perhaps a few other beliefs from who-knows-where (I can only guess).

A truly strange mashup of theology - much of it simply wrong.

To paraphrase our Lord, you are greatly mislead. I am sorry to see this.

I was taught when we die our souls will be judged by the Lord.

Our body returns to dust.

Our body does not enter in to heaven after death.
No one said that the BODY enters Heaven after death. It is the soul that experiences the Beatific Vision.

I see you’ve been talking to Jehovah’s Witnesses, or at least it seems like it, were I you, I would ask them how they translated the New World Translation. I don’t know, maybe I am wrong, but this definitely sounds like Jehovah’s Witness theology

But after the Second Coming and the Last Judgement the bodies of the righteous will be resurrected and in Heaven with their souls, no?

Yup. But the issue is that the soul does not “enter heaven” after the person is first judged.

The body does. And OP said 'no human enters heaven.

No, the issue the OP has is no HUMAN enters heaven. His or her exact words.

Because a human is both body AND soul. We don’t preexist our bodies.
But when the body is gone, the person still exists, do they not?

Many a body has been burned, smashed, cremated, etc. and yet the person still exists because the soul exists.

Now the body will be restored, but until then the soul is the person.

Phew! Tough break england123, never leave out a word when you post! These answers were exhausting to read lol

Yeah hand those folks who think their body a soul goes to heaven, give them a copy of the catechism.

So the body doesn’t matter? And God resurrects our bodies - why? As a nice but ultimately pointless and useless gesture? No. A human is essentially both body and soul, that is why ultimately the body must be resurrected to share the fate of the soul.

And the stuff of the body absolutely still exists after death. Not an atom of it is lost, although to be sure it changes form.

Yes, there are saints in the Catholic Church whose physical bodies were destroyed at the time of their death, yet we know that they’re now alive in heaven with God.

“Soul Sleep” is not a Catholic doctrine.
Our body does not enter in to heaven after death
Correct, because the Church teaches the same.

While some have been assumed into heaven bodily (Elijah, Mary, etc.), for most of us the soul goes to final judgement and body to dust (or to the embalmer).

At the Resurrection our glorified bodies will rejoin our souls.
Some Christians believe they will go to heaven or hell after death body & soul. I have heard them saying such things in general chit chat.
That is strange. One can simply exhume the grave and see the body is still in there. Or look at the cremains after cremation.

So the body doesn’t matter?
Of course the body matters. But we Catholics believe our bodies will be resurrected on the Last Day. Up until then, the soul survives, while the body lies wherever it was put, in whatever condition it has assumed.

No Roman Catholic.

I was taught when we die our souls will be judged by the Lord.
And if the soul is judged righteous, the soul will enter heaven.
Our body returns to dust.

Our body does not enter in to heaven after death.

We hopefully will be resurrected from the dead when the Lord returns to the Holy City of Zion and our bodies and Soul will be reunited together but not before.

That sounds right. So, what’s the problem?

At the transfiguration Moses and Elijah were “talking with” Jesus…

Moses we know died…and Elijah…

“as they walked on conversing, a flaming chariot and flaming horses came between them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.”

Jesus brought back to life a few folks in the NT…

Plus there was the “good” thief …“Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise”

Sooooooo there is that…

I should add that those who have a hard time believing that Mary was taken up to heaven they should read about Elijah as it sets precedent for such an event to be able to take place.
