Well, first of all, I as Baptist don’t believe in Peter being the first pope. He was “just” a missionar/evangelist, preaching the Gosple, like Paul or John and so on. - And this means that he was also faillable!
Were you laboring under some misapprehension that Catholics believe Peter was not fallible?
Secondly, I think what Jesus said is more important than what Peter said! Because Jesus, as He is God, is indeed infaillable!
There is no contradiction between the two. The HS is speaking through Peter, and there is complete consistency between what Jesus said, and what Peter preached.
Code:
Thirdly I have never heard of baptizing on the Name of Christ Jesus alone. Neither in the RCC, nor in any other Christian denomination. Have you?
In Christ,

Yes, unfortunately, this is not uncommon among those who have been separated from the Apostolic Traditions.

This is certainly true, but fortunately, the Scriptures are written by the Spirit of God, who can speak nothing but Truth.
And you believe it because it’s written in the Book. A case of circular reasoning
This being the case, why are you here? You seem to be meeting some need inside yourself to mock our faith.
Something motivates you to come here, and take pot shots at our beliefs. I wonder what that might be? What is it, in you, that has not been resolved that you are trying to work out at our expense?
Purely philanthropic motive and concern for your sanity
No, it would not. I don’t know anything about any salt in the throat, but I do know that Jesus directed that we must be born again of water and Spirit.
There you are, you don’t really know the various practices of your own church, so you need help.
If you wish to deny the gift that was given to you at baptism, that is your choice. I have chosen to embrace mine, which is an expression of the grace of God intended for my salvation.
No gift, my parents paid for it with a cash donation

I have always thought that Catholics believe that Peter was the first pope? The pope is infallible, isn’t he? So Peter was!? Or did I missunderstand something there?

There is no contradiction between the two. The HS is speaking through Peter, and there is complete consistency between what Jesus said, and what Peter preached.

Then tell me, why does Peter tell that you have to be baptised in the name of Christ Jesus and Jesus that you have to be baptised in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost?

Yes, unfortunately, this is not uncommon among those who have been separated from the Apostolic Traditions.
I think this doesn’t have to do anything with separating from the Apostilic Traditions, but with miss-using God’s word for sawing miss-agreements! If you have the Holy Spirit I think you can’t do that… No mater whether you are Catholic or a Baptist or belonging to any other denomination.

Gabriel of 12;

The Mercy and Grace of God is not earned, it is freely given by God; Who would refuse an infant in arms to the merciful Lord? that is why Infants are recieved into the Kingdom of God through baptism in the Catholic Church, so as to suffer (baptism is a death to original and actual sin) the Children unto the Lord.
Baptism is to i remove origianal sin a nd after conf. we rec the Hioly S pirit

It demonstrates that “the HS will lead me to a correct interpretation of Scripture” paradigm is false.
OK, that makes sense. You must have mistyped the last message for there you said:
Here is another example that one cannot assume a Holy Spirit-guided illumination of the Scriptures will necessarily lead to a correct understanding of God’s message.
Or maybe I just misinterpreted what you were trying to say

Or maybe I just misinterpreted what you were trying to say
Yes, I think you did.

Which only goes to prove my point–one can read a Scripture verse, or indeed any sentence, and come to a wrong interpretation. There needs to be a spokesperson for the written text. 🤷

And that “spokesperson” is the 3rd one?

PR, did the Holy Spirit lead you to the CC?
+++++++++++
actually a good question! 😉
**
I mean I believe that the HS lead me to protestant Churches **(We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and everyone can come to everyone. At least speaking of **Baptists **and Pentecostals. - From the others I don’t know because there aren’t any, except Jehovah’s Wittnesses and SD-Adventists, with whom “we don’t have communion”. Well, also the Lutheran Evangelical Church and the United Methodist Church and the Mennonites we have here. But I am not too sure about them… Never bothered me so far…).

Well for completion: In Austria there is of course the RCC and diverse Orthodox Churches. And finally the New Apostolic Church (which is a sect. No question about it. I think we all can agree on that!)

How can ONE HS lead people to different denominations, although there is only one BODY? What does this mean for us? That we ALL belong to this Body whose head is Christ Jesus himself. I think this is the only logical conclusion.

PR, did the Holy Spirit lead you to the CC?
I don’t know. How would one know that? From a feeling?

I am Catholic firstly because I was baptized Catholic; secondly because I have examined the faith and its Truth is quite startlingly profound and magnificent. Thirdly, I suppose it is purely by God’s grace that I have this faith. Fourthly, I have known Him intimately and passionately through His Body, the CC–no other Church offers me the One Flesh Union, which is, quite simply, sublime. (Don’t want to get into a discussion of the Orthodox right now).

So are you saying the Holy Spirit guides all these Christian to the truth?
  1. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Lutherans the Eucharist is the true presence of Christ, and then tell the Baptists it is only a symbol?
  2. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Methodists it is alright to have female ministers, and then tell the Baptists it is unbiblical?
  3. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Seventh Day Adventists that Saturday is the day of worship, and then tell the Presbyterians the day of worship is Sunday and not Saturday?
  4. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Lutherans that the Blessed Virgin Mary was and remains always virgin, and then tell the Baptists she had other children?
  5. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Baptists, ‘once saved always saved’, and then tell the Church of Christ that Sola Fides is unscriptural?
  6. How can the Holy Spirit tell Episcopalians to baptize infants and then tell Pentecostals infant baptism is invalid?
  7. How can the Holy Spirit tell Mormons that the Holy Trinity is three separate persons, and then tell Methodists the Trinity is three persons in one GOD

Then, no, I don’t believe the HS is the interpreter of Scripture.

How would that work if one believed the HS was the interpreter of Scripture?
I don’t really get it.

Actually this is the teaching of most protestant denominations! And as far as I know (correct me, PRmerger, if I am wrong) this is also the teaching of the RCC!? How could you interpret the Holy Bible then if not with the HS??

So are you saying the Holy Spirit guides all these Christian to the truth?

I didn’t say all of them. I don’t know how to write that which are guided by the HS and which aren’t… I am really lack of word here. I wish I could.
I only now that neither Mormons, nor SDAs, nor JW, nor the Church of Christ (all though I am not sure, because I don’t know this Church, neither their teachings), nor the New Apostolic Church belong to that group.
  1. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Lutherans the Eucharist is the true presence of Christ, and then tell the Baptists it is only a symbol?
Well the thing with true presence is a little complecated, for Baptists also believe that Jesus is truley present, but different than the Lutherans do and again different than the RCC or the Orthodx Churches do.
  1. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Methodists it is alright to have female ministers, and then tell the Baptists it is unbiblical?
I thought I am a Baptists… I didn’t realize that female ministers are not allowed with us. (?!)
  1. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Seventh Day Adventists that Saturday is the day of worship, and then tell the Presbyterians the day of worship is Sunday and not Saturday?
For the SDA - see above.
  1. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Lutherans that the Blessed Virgin Mary was and remains always virgin, and then tell the Baptists she had other children?
I already wanted to write about that some time ago. I have found a nice bible verse that Mary surely not always remained virgin:

Mark 3
NIV:
Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him.
32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.

I, by the way, didn’t know that until I started severly reading the Bible, especially the NT. I don’t know why Catholics leave these Verses out!
  1. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Baptists, ‘once saved always saved’, and then tell the Church of Christ that Sola Fides is unscriptural?
As I said before, I am not sure what the Church of Christ is and what teaching they have!
  1. How can the Holy Spirit tell Episcopalians to baptize infants and then tell Pentecostals infant baptism is invalid?
I am also not sure what Episcopolians are. Well, I think, btw, we have discussed enough about Baptism! ;))
  1. How can the Holy Spirit tell Mormons that the Holy Trinity is three separate persons, and then tell Methodists the Trinity is three persons in one GOD

Well, Mormons: see above!
I wouldn’t dare to say that we are NOT one body of Christ! (Except Churches mentioned above and similar ones to those according their teachings!)

In Christ,
