And just so you know, the alter call is not a “protestant” practice, because I know of hundreds of congregations (if not thousands) who are protestant and who reject the alter call as being no more than a humanistic tradition of religio-political men, who know nothing of the power of God in conversion.
Firstly, cm, I’d like to know where in Scripture it says that everything you do in church has to be found in Scripture. Chapter and verse, please.

Secondly, you are using an arbitrary definition of “Protestant practice”, cm.

Just because “hundreds of congregations” don’t practice the non-Biblical altar call doesn’t mean anything.

There’s over 40,000 different Protestant denominations now
and each of them practices their own rites and rituals, so it’s really impossible for anyone to say what a “Protestant practice” is.

Certainly saying it has to be done by the majority is a capricious criterion.
As for Wednesday night bible study, this is a pattern and practice which is continually set forth in the Scriptures - see Acts 2:42-47; 17:11.

I’ll take those verses to support a Wednesday night Bible study if you’ll take this to see the Blessed Mother’s Immaculate Conception:

[bibledrb]Luke 1:28[/bibledrb]

It’s right next to the verse that says the CC has the correct form of worship service (mass). 😃

Get my point?

While your checking out the reference, please find where it says the 40,000 different forms of worship are incorrect.

When you worship God do you do so sometimes with your hands raised?

Thats a easy one.

1 Cor. 11:2 Commend them for following Apostoic Tradition.

2 Thes. 2:15 COMMANDS them to keep Traditions.

Now you show me One part of the Mass that is not keeping with Tradition?

But saying “It’s not found in Scripture so I won’t do it” is not MY paradigm. It’s yours, and cm’s.

The CC has* never* said that all that God has revealed is contained in one book.

None of them are incorrect if they adhere to the teachings of the Apostles.
When you worship God do you do so sometimes with your hands raised?
No! I just can’t do it! :o

But if I did I wouldn’t have to check to see if it’s found in Scripture to do it, 'cause that’s not MY paradigm–it’s yours. You ought not be raising your hands in worship if you can’t find a Bible verse to support it, right?

I can! I can show you.

1 Cor. 1:10 I urge you there be NO dvisions among you. I can honestly say that 40,000 different forms are worship could be a division how about you:D

Eph. 4:4-6 There is ONE Body One Spirit

Philippians 2:2 be of the same mind united in heart thinking one thing.

John 10:16 There shall be ONE fold and ONE Shepherd

Romans 16:17 avoid thosw who create dissensions.

I could go on and on and on.
😛

Well, most point to the great comission at the end of Matthew. A lot of Protestants take it in order.
  1. Make Disciples
  2. Teaching them
  3. Baptizing them
The rationale is that you can’t teach an infant “the way” so they cannot yet be baptized.
It is cherry picking scripture, which is typical for the way Protestants look at scripture.

Keep in mind that with the Protestant faith when faced with different scenarios in scripture the answer is generally either A or B with a sort of order in authority, (i.e. Gospel>NT>OT).
In the Catholic Faith it is usually “and” or “both”. For instance, both Infants are baptized without teaching AND adults are baptized after teaching.

I don’t understand how your post answers my post.

I have NO clue whether or not the CC mass keeps ST. It’s non of my business because I don’t go to mass.

I believe we’ve had this discussion before and I’ve never said ‘don’t do it unless it’s in the Bible.’ What I’ve said is that if something is taught as truth, it sould not contradict the Bible, directly or indirectly.
The CC has* never*

You are correct. I do remember your saying this, Doki.

You will never be able to find a teaching which contradicts the Bible.

So when Protestants say, “Calling priests ‘Father’ contradicts Scripture” they really are not understanding Scripture correctly.

I mean, really, why would the CC, which put the Bible together, have left that verse in? If they wanted to, they could have deleted that verse in Scripture that says, “Call no man father”. 🤷 All those monks, sweating away in the monastaries fastidiously copying the Scriptures could have been ordered to just skip that verse, and none of us would have been any wiser! 😛

I wasn’t thinking about calling a priest ‘father’. BTW, when did the CC start calling them ‘father’?

I was speaking of infant baptism and the perpetual virginity of Mary. If those are incorrect, then the CC can’t be the one true always correct church Jesus started in the 1st century.

Then the CC breaks this one, according to your logic, because there are many, many CCs, thus many bodies.
If you can cite a doctrinal difference between the CC in Australia and the CC in Zaire then we will cede your point.

But you won’t be able to do it!

I challenge you!! Are you up for it? 😃

Are all CCs charismatic? Are any CCs charismatic? There’s quite a difference between the two styles. Not a bad difference, may I add.

And I just thought of another thing!

Now, this is not a doctrinal issue, but I this is an AMAZING example of the unity in the Catholic Church: each and every Catholic Church, from Australia to Pakistan to Zaire, read the very same readings this past Sunday and celebrated the very same feast–the feast of Corpus Christi.

How MAGNIFICENT is that, that if you went to Mass in Albuquerque or San Juan or Manila–you’d hear the very same Scripture verses read from the pulpit! 👍

Now, can any other Baptist Church brag about this?

Seems you missed my point. That’s the problem with taking a quote out of context.

I was commenting on the statement that you made about being right next to the scripture about mass. Figured I would show it to you.😃 The Mass is in the book Of Rev. It actually even shows you how to even set up the CC.

And by the way I raise my Hands in glory for God. I kneel before my Lord too!! I usually raise my hands rights after the Our Father.😃 WHen we say all glory and honor are yours Oh Lord now and forever Amen!!😃

I see, I guess. I don’t see the Mass in the book of Revelation, though. Could you point me to it?
