Why do some people get the idea that all Anime is for kids?

Because some people refuse to investigate the media they are critiquing, and continue under 60 year old beliefs that animation is meant for children.

Despite a volume of evidence to the contrary
 
What I mean is: it’s not ok if everyone is like this.
You can’t stop some people being like this but you certainly don’t want all adults in society to be like this.
 
Much of it isn’t for kids I’m pretty sure people realise this now
 
I just can’t imagine the American president and all European country leaders and every single politician of the parliaments in those countries and the Pope and bishops, every teacher, every doctor, every lawyer and judge, and every elderly person with supposedly wisdom etc when you interview them what they most like to do in their spare time? Watch anime.

What is wrong with anime? It is an art form like any other. There is cheap stuff and there are critically acclaimed classics like Spirited Away. I am sure any wise person can appreciate good story telling, no matter what form it comes in and beautiful visuals.

You haven’t made a case whatsoever. Just because not every important person in the world does something, doesn’t mean that it is not befitting of an adult to do.

Your point was that anime is for kids because it was fantasy. I am just trying to figure out why exactly do you think enjoying fantasy is something inherently childish.
