Metaphorically human, meaning he/she struggles.
Some of my favorite movie/book characters:
*Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Starts out good and a prophesied hero to bring balance to the Force. Convinced to join the Dark Side, and becomes the antagonist for most of the original trilogy. Then he sees Palpatine torture his son, and winds up fighting for the side of good again– fulfilling his prophesied role.
*Samwise Gamgee. He is the epitome of oridinariness. He leaves his peaceful life to help is boss and best friend on a dangerous journey, even though no one knew how long or dangerous it would be. He goes on to choose not to abandon Frodo, and makes it so the quest is even possible. Without his tenacity, they would have gotten the Ring after Shelob almost killed Frodo.
*Faramir, son of Denethor. He goes on a suicide mission just to earn his father’s love. And on that mission, he encounters the Ring. The very thing which killed his brother, Boromir. But instead of succumbing to the RIng’s power (sin), he stays strong and resists.
*Perrin Aybara. He. Is. Adorkable. The parts where he struggles with talking to girls despite otherwise being so confident actually are cute/funny. His story’s no walk in a park either. He has the rare ability to talk to wolves, and has to struggle to even keep his humanity.
