Now we all remember the “private revelation, listen to me and its mostly about me” Angelica Zombrano? Well her saying “don’t watch cartoons/listen to music/no entertainment only boredom” sounds a lot back in Shakespeare’s time when they said “Plays are the Devil” but…why? I never heard Jesus having a problem with such things, so why do they consider such things sin?🤷

I can’t speak for Angelica Zombrano, but some people overreact. They see things being abused, and demonize the things themselves. Intolerance is easier than moderation; and legalism, demanding as it is, is easier than real virtue.

That said, it can be the case that the majority of offerings available in a given venue are offensive to faith or morals. In that case one might be well advised to avoid the medium altogether, not because it’s bad in itself, but because of what’s available. I think this applies to much of today’s entertainment.

yeah but even so sometimes such mature things (for ex Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, a anime that uses mature satire to make fun of sins like lust and gluttony to show how messed up they are) don’t always offend but rather support in a strange way, but I guess the problem is people just see with their eyes and nothing else, then again Im a guy who is very artsy, I guess its the misconception every celebrity is just being famous and rich just for glory when really its their own personal reasons

Some seem to go as far as any activity that isn’t religious or spiritual is wrong because it takes away from time that could be spent in prayer or doing charity work, etc. Depending on how extreme it is taken it can range from “it needs to be wholesome, rated G” to “it needs to have religious content” to “it needs to be about the bible” to “read the bible only.” The latter means no literature or other kinds of art, no tinkering with your computer, sports/working out, things like that. I guess gardening is okay even though that’s where all the trouble started.

And that I think is also what causes the spread of Atheism

It depends on the entertainment. Porn is a great example. Drug use would be another. Porn & drugs in a movie wouldnt be good entertainment unless you like that stuff. So anything with a negative influence would be bad.

A lot of thinks in entertainment today is sinful. The way people dress, speak, and act are sinful. Not to include that almost all of the entertainment today is gossip.

I find a lot of the shows show a lot of indecent clothing, kids not obeying there parents. Also there are more shows that show same sex marriage which is wrong. there are a lot of other things like swearing, sex before marriage, shows that have ghosts, demons vamprires ext. I have never noticed really till I have came back to the church:)

I love shows about ghosts and demons and vampires (Supernatural anyone?)

I will pray for ya’ll.
You might be able to complain about the demons and vampires, but you have no right to complain about antagonists being evil or protagonists not being perfect. Without an evil antagonist, there’s little to drive a plot. The only exceptions are Javerts who are just antagonistic toward the protagonist. And heroes can’t all be perfect. Superman is boring partly because you know he wins. Stories are better when the protagonist is human, and therefore struggles

Or…NOT ‘human’ and still struggles: Lord of the Rings, Watership Downs, and so on.

Legalism. It’s what’s for breakfast.

Metaphorically human, meaning he/she struggles. 😃

Some of my favorite movie/book characters:
*Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Starts out good and a prophesied hero to bring balance to the Force. Convinced to join the Dark Side, and becomes the antagonist for most of the original trilogy. Then he sees Palpatine torture his son, and winds up fighting for the side of good again– fulfilling his prophesied role.
*Samwise Gamgee. He is the epitome of oridinariness. He leaves his peaceful life to help is boss and best friend on a dangerous journey, even though no one knew how long or dangerous it would be. He goes on to choose not to abandon Frodo, and makes it so the quest is even possible. Without his tenacity, they would have gotten the Ring after Shelob almost killed Frodo.
*Faramir, son of Denethor. He goes on a suicide mission just to earn his father’s love. And on that mission, he encounters the Ring. The very thing which killed his brother, Boromir. But instead of succumbing to the RIng’s power (sin), he stays strong and resists.
*Perrin Aybara. He. Is. Adorkable. The parts where he struggles with talking to girls despite otherwise being so confident actually are cute/funny. His story’s no walk in a park either. He has the rare ability to talk to wolves, and has to struggle to even keep his humanity.

Alucard and Alexander Anderson from Hellsing, both have problems, one was a horrible man who twisted God’s word and then acted betrayed in his human life (Vlad) and one has SERIOUS tolerance problems, but each learned their lessons, Alucard knows that he was the one who was foolish to throw away his humanity, which throughout the show is shown to be the greatest sin against God, while Anderson saw the abuse of power Maxwell used by trying to use the Papal Knights to commit genocide rather than stopping the Millenium
