Why do we assume that animals don't have rational minds?

In some cultures it is OK for humans to eat dogs. Other cultures, however, find it objectionable.
I was with my wife in a market in Peru a few years ago. ‘Ah, look at the cute guineau pigs’ she said. I had to point out that we weren’t in the pet section. We were in the meat section.

rational.
sounds interesting… again, though. what’s ‘rational’ exactly supposed to mean?

For all of what animals have - there’s also a myriad of manners in which humans are way-way superior.

Could it be because they lack a tongue which can form a million words
and 1000’s of languages – as we have?

Or is it b/c their bodies although specialized in unique manners
  • yet not in the more overall very well “balanced” manner of Humans?
E.G. Were you a bird, you can only pick up a very few things with the beak of your little body.

Birds are incapable of constructing many forms of lifting tools.

Your wings? limited mostly to flying…

Your claws… Limited… including carrying a very few items.

Your speech? Limited…

When you’re thirsty … birds are incapable of plumbing - even if they’ve the mind to do so

They cannot easily tell a human… I’m thirsty… any water?

They do what they can do… From memory - fly to water… and drink.

The ability to abstract and form concepts.

I suppose I would be impressed if one could evidence an animal in the wild fabricating a tool whose sole purpose was the production of another tool.

Yes… Or write books … build libraries … send a fellow animal to the moon …

Thing is… Were they to actually have such minds… they’d have a tough time doing anything because they cannot easily express all, much or hardly anything - of what is in their minds.

Still… They’re way closer to ‘humanity’ than say a stone is…

Because yes, we do share a lot in the fundamental ways of living… homes, food, procreation, play in a way… affection at some levels… and the abilities to avoid dying… aka the wanting to Live…

WE… are the obvious “lord”… even of the Earth…

That said, yes, Satan still remains “prince” of this worldly world.

One fine day - he shall forever be no more.
