I think it has a symbolic significance. Like why are Archangels depicted with long hair in a ponytail and the ribbons are open?
It actually signifies something: long hair that they are pure and the open ribbon that they are strict yet forgiving (one version I heard in church). Here it says that it signifies their powers - divine hearing:

Same thing with Christ, His long hair is not a picture of Him but a representation of Him. It’s a metaphor and it is inspired by the Shroud of Turin.
