Why do we have confession?

Praying for you as you return to Confession and to the Church.

I once went 25 years between confessions, so I may have an idea of what you’re going through. When I finally bit the bullet and went, it was like heavy chains falling off me. May you have the joy of a similar experience.
 
The secrets of your heart have power over you, but Confession removes their power.
