Why do woman like shoes?

I wear Crocs sandals around the house 🏠
 
growing up, I never had more than two pairs. one pair sneakers for everywhere and one pair dress shoes.

Now I have 2 pairs of boots just for work, one for winter, one for the rest of the year. In addition to whatever else I have, that totals 9, iirc. Sounds like a lot. But my sisters still have way more than me. Plus in the homes I’ve been in where I can see loose shoes out and about, women’s shoes almost always seem to outnumber the men’s shoes. Even for younger people. Hence my remark on “reaching parity”.

Yup. I’ve noticed my birthday and christmas lists tend to consist mostly of kitchen stuff. I have more shoes than my male friends only because I’m used to there being more rules of “you can’t wear those shoes with that outfit” as a woman.

Kitchen Aid Mixer

I always struggled with handheld mixers…my MIL insisted she get me a KitchenAid for a wedding presant. I thought it was an expensive toy.

I WAS SO WRONG. SO WRONG.

I can make amazing breads of all sorts, I make oatmeal bars, cookies, fluffiest mashed potatoes…the list goes on and on.

Eh, baking isn’t quite so much my thing. My top 2 right now are a good blender and a crockpot. I make a lot of soups out of sheer laziness and my resulting fondness of having my entire meal in one pot. A lot of them are based on some variety of bean simply because I’m poor. Being able to stick them in the crockpot and just leave it there while I run errands would be great. And a blender can make less texturally palatable veggies work well.

But you just can’t do a proper cheesecake with a Kitchen Aid. It comes out all wrong.
 
No issue really just a failure on my part to crack a joke. You may hit the gong now and hook me offstage. 🤣
 
Honestly, I’m not much of a baker, either. Which is why I lurve the bread that the Kitchen Aid can make. Also pasta…I have a hand crank flatener but making the dough is a pain in the arse.

I have 3 crock pots. A wee one, a “standard” one and an extra large one. Use them on a regular basis. Got 2 of them for free, so that’s why I have so many. You ought to look at Craig’s list or the thrift store. People get rid of them all the time.

I use my handi chopper every day, sometimes several times a day. Upgraded to a glass one a few years ago. This sucker gets a work out Amazon.com
I cut ground 80/20 ground beef with carrots on a 2 to 3 ration (2 parts carrot, 3 parts beef) to stretch it. Great for tacos, shepard’s pot pie, “sloppy” joe and basically anything you would crumble beef for. I’ve even done meatball sliders that were 2/3 carrot/beef as well as all the other meatball entities and they were great.
 
Really what I could go for would be a tortilla maker, or maybe pasta. I honestly don’t actually eat a huge amount of bread. But it would be nice if I could make up some pasta with whatever grain I want - I’ve been eyeing some whole grain or veggie pasta but it’s so expensive!

You could probably manage with a food processor then. I’ve heard people had good success with that. Whole wheat pasta is super cheap to make. Most comercial veggie pastas are just junk. I get this one Ronzoni | Discover all of our Delicious Pasta Products | Ronzoni®… and it’s seriously WAY more filling than traditional pasta and it seems to cook up bigger, too. I can easily eat twice as much of traditional “white” rotini in the 99 cent box.

You need an oven to bake, but yes, KitchenAid beats bread maker bread hands down. Not even a contest.

Best I’ve done so far is Italian bread. Like an 80 old monk who’s been baking since he was a kid good. I’ve done bagels and pretzels (you need to boil before baking) and they were SOOOO GOOOD. No contest to the store stuff.

They you have truly specialty bread. Hubby has had me do various copycat recipes of the various Panera breads. Worked quite well.

I think why it works well is becuase the kneeding hook can really get some air into the dough–mechanically it’s simply a mini Hobart mixer—which is what factories use to mix their dough. With the right flour, yeast proofing, rise temps the results are fabulous.
 
Yeah, I’ve hit the point in life where I realize that existing on pizza, box mac and cheese, and potato chips doesn’t do my body any favors. I’m trying to slip in more fruits and veggies and other such items, but also find ways to make the ones on sale last a long time rather than having to buy whatever’s fresh. I think it’s called “the challenges of cooking on a low income.” So anything where the texture of the veggies isn’t as highlighted is much better.
