Why do I love God?

Because while I was God’s enemy powerless to do anything about my enmity and rebellion against God, Christ died for the ungodly (me) to bring peace between God and me.

Romans 5

Peace with God Through Faith

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. - Romans 5

The gospel is for all Christians to hear daliy, regardless of being Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Anglican, etc. Paul preaches the gospel to the churches in the New Testament, which consist of the professing body of Christ. Is Paul writing to non-believers?

2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

I think it’s important to note that Paul was writing to the Church 😉

And while He may have been writing to the church, I think if you’re assuming the gospel is only for believers you are gravely mistaken.

Underdog, do YOU love God enough to surrender your pride and follow Him in His church? Do you love Him enough to “take up your cross” and follow Him…to be reconciled completely to Christ and to partake of Him intimately, faithfully, and obediently, in the Sacrament? Do you love Him enough to say “YES Lord, I believe!” ?

That’s the thing. You have NOT been preaching the Gospel Of Jesus Christ. You have been insulting and ridiculing all who do not believe exactly the same way you do. Whereas we have been pointing you to the Holy Catholic Church, you repond with nonsense and thread jumping. We speak truth, and you twist the Holy Scriptures, ignoring all forms of context. SO taht is how I can justify that statement.

I don’t know if I love God. I know that I choose to live as if I love God. I try to love others and actually don’t find that difficult because one is always aware that whatever their circumstance each person is a whole world and a consciousness as relevant, poignant and human as mine. If I go to God it’s through Jesus who is also human. I think I’d find God too vast and even alien if there weren’t Jesus. I speak to God in prayers sometimes, but it’s Jesus who makes that possible and real for me.

And that’s loving God, loving Him through others…as we know from Matthew 25, verses 31-46…which makes a lot of the other arguments between folks just details they can hurt each other with. The gospel teaches us to love God above all and others as ourselves, so God please grant us to live this gospel of Jesus

My understanding of the Gospel is that it must be shared in the way God intended it to be shared and spread … through the Catholic Church.

My understanding of the Gospel is therefore illuminated by the understanding of the Apostles who passed the faith to the next generation … and so forth and so on … I want to partake in the same belief as Peter and all the others and share in the same manner as they did.

The Gospel then is most fully expressed, illuminated and preached by the Divine institution Christ left us with, the Catholic Church. Everything I need to understand is here.
 
Why Do I love God? Because he gave up his only Son to save me. He makes me feel so loved, and so content. Even when I feel like the whole world has turned against me, and I am so alone. He has a way of making me feel like I am the only Person in the world.

I love him so much, that when I am told my time in this world is to a end I can honestly feel excitement just knowing that I will finally get to meet I AM. Even though I know this will not be a fun time, the judgement, it will be worth the trial just to finally look into the eyes of I AM.

It is said that you can never find perfect happiness in this world because you cannot look into the eyes of our Lord. I can’t wait to look into those eyes. I will look into the eyes of perfect happiness. And when I see those eyes I will see what Love really is! And when I look into the eyes of I Am I will see who I always wished I could have been more like. Because you can never be like him enough.

'cause He’s GREAT…plus he opened my spiritually atherosclerotic heart to be able to love back…aah Light !

You know Trishie you response is beautiful. But even when I don’t live how I should my love for him is never in doubt. But now why he loves me? Now that may even be a bigger Mystery then the Trinity!

The gospel is to be proclaimed to the entire world. All mankind is commanded to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ to be reconciled to God. Howerver, only believers in the bibilcal Jesus Christ receive the eternal benefit of of the person and work of Jesus Christ. For those who refuse to believe in the gospel of God, here is what God reveals:

The Judgment at Christ’s Coming

This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed. To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. -

I love God because he answers my prayers, he listens to me and comforts me. Because he always has time and compassion for me. Because God is good, God is all-encompassing, all-knowing and all-loving. Because he guides me through my life and shows me the right paths. I could go on and on, but like another poster said, What’s not to love about God?🤷

I know. It’s amazing! You think, “Me!!!” Yet He does. Every now and then He gives you a special little reminder that it really is a personal love. As a ten year old I used to wander the playground thinking, “How can you possibly love us? We are like millions of generations of ants” I called that out in my mind to Him one particular day, and a great peace came in my mind and it said, “Because I am your Father’. I had a critical mind…but because of the great peace I didn’t question the answer which I otherwise would have thought of as 'begging the question”.
 
These guys are having this huge discussion, and its like we three are whispering in the sidelines! 😃

The Light of the Gospel

And he always has the answer to give don’t he. I always think of the question God how much do you love me. and he stretched out his hands and said THIS MUCH. Every time I look at the cross I say. wow! People dog Catholic’s for having pictures of him everywhere. But I need them. They remind me every day that he is still here. Everytime I look at them It reminds me how loved I am.
 
I think this sums it up pretty well 🙂

Mary could teach us a thing or two about loving our savior!

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

I used to have to look away when I saw the Catholic crucifix.

Now, when I gaze at our Lord, broken and bleeding…His suffering portrayed so clearly before me… I see so much beauty. Jesus and His cross have grown so close to my heart. I don’t fear suffering anymore… I don’t turn away from Him on the cross. I embrace our sufferings, and know that I can unite them with His. Now, Christ crucified is full of beautiful sorrow, and I don’t need to look away from the cross.

And I agree so much with your last two statements! Especially when I am in front of the blessed sacrament…and I see Him portrayed on the cross above the altar… I get overwhelmed knowing that He really IS HERE! How great a savior we have in Jesus:)
