Tomshaikh,
The concept of the Trinity is written ALL over the Bible. The word, trinity, is not; it is a coined word, like transubstantiation, which was later coined to more clearly define a Biblical doctrine already taught and believed and practiced by the very first Christians. Belief in the Trinity in no way contradicts monotheism. Think about it. If Jesus had come and plainly said that he was (also) God and the Holy Spirit too, not a single Jew would have received him as the Truth. Jesus had to explain to his disciples that He and the Father are One, just as He wants all his people to be one church, the one He founded on Peter, the rock. Jesus is the cornerstone of the faith; obviously a person has to believe Jesus’ words to be in the faith. But Peter is the rock of the church, the one Jesus asked to “feed my sheep”. And he gave him the power to loose and bind and the authority to forgive sins. And how is he to know whether or not to forgive someone’s sins unless he knows what those sins are? Jesus’ statement implies audible confession. A person must be sincere in sorrow for one’s sins in order to be forgiven BY JESUS (through the priest). If you read the Bible, you will find the Holy Spirit as a person or expression of God: “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit…”, “The Holy Spirits says…”. You will also find Christ in the Old Test. through the plurality of God in Genesis-“man must not eat from the tree of life…lest he become like ONE OF US.” and “Let US create man…” St. Paul says, “Let us not test CHRIST, as some of them did and suffered death by serpents.” (referring to Moses striking the rock in the desert twice instead of following the Word of God exactly.) All God has to do to create something is to speak and it is done. Wisdom (of God) is the “craftsman”, not another creator. “God said…let there by light.” God creates through his spoken Word and Jesus is called the Word of God because the Father sent Him forth to more fully reveal Himself. There are early Christian writings and historical records by atheist historians that attest to the fact that belief in Jesus as God is the doctrine of Christians. These were written before the apostles died. Clement’s letter to the Romans explicitly states “Jesus, our God, …” This was written in 106AD. My suggestion for you would be to read the Early Christian Fathers writings and compare them to the Bible. You will (by the power of the Holy Spirit) find the Truth. Pray first for the God’s Spirit to guide your thoughts. Please pray for me and I will also keep you in my prayers. God bless you.
