Jesus only founded One Church, and the Apostles taught that it is Catholic. This is not arrogance, it is just a fact. Jesus continues to build His One Church, and all who are members of Him are members of the One Body. If you find this concept arrogant, then your accusation is against the Scriptures, and the Apostles. Why does one hate the Catholic Church?
I don’t hate the Catholic Church, I disagree with some of it’s teachings, but I don’t hate it.
What I hate is the **arrogance **in thinking that the Catholic Church is the **only member **of the church that Jesus is building.
There are some Catholics that erroneously believe this, but I think they do so more out of ignorance than they do arrogance.Code:**Arrogance** in thinking that the Catholic Church is the only church that the true presence in the Eucharist,
I have heard this accusation made here at CAF, but I don’t recall any Catholics making it, and it certainly cannot be found in any official Catholic Teaching. Perhaps this is a strawman?Code:that only the Pope or Catholic Church can be visited by the Holy Spirit,
I think that the plethora of Protestant ecclesial communities prove that this is not the case.that only the Pope and Catholics can interprete that Holy Bible,
Since Jesus only built One Church, and there is no salvation outside of Him, then how can one be in “Jesus” but not part of His One Body? I think you lost me there.that if you are not a member of the Catholic church then you are not in Jesus’ Church, that only the Catholic Church holds the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, that only the Catholic Church hold some mystery authority over th Kingdom of Heaven, etc…
The keys to the kingdom were given to the the Apostles and their successors. I know that people have a lot of authority problems, especially in America, a country founded upon revolt and rebellion against authority. However, Jesus knew what He was doing when He established authority for His Church. There is no mystery, except perhaps that He has given such authority to men.
While it is true that Jesus’ teaching and preaching are part of the foundation of the Church, the Church was founded upon people, not books.Code:The foundation of Jesus' Church - teachings and preaching of the Apostles we have it in the Holy Bible.
No, Shaick, Writings, however Holy, cannot wield authority. The exercise of authority requires acts of the will, discernment, and the ability to take responsibility. Scriptures cannot do these things, which is why Jesus gave His authority for the Church to people.Code:The Successor to the Apostles= the Holy Bible. The doors of the Kingdom of Heaven have been opened. There is no mystery or secret authority.
I agree, He opened the gates of heaven, and the mystery is that this opening flows through the authority He appointed. I agree, through, there is no secret. The very reason there is so much rebellion evident is that the authority is not hidden.
