Why does Satan have to be so evil!

I just don’t understand. Why can’t he go back to God Almighty? Is it because he’s so beautiful and powerful, that he just wants to be worshipped? Well then, why does he seek to destroy us. Can not anything change the mind Sammael, Lucifer?
 
Also, I’ve read that St. Jerome, Augustine, and a few others Church fathers believed one day Satan, Sammael, will return to God. What fdoes the church say about this?

I am confused. I don’t understand how this answers the question. Please advise.

Rejecting the love of God - which is the source for being holy - leads Satan to be evil.
 
God is powerful enough to turn anything that is meant for evil to good. From Genesis, we have the story of Joseph, for instance. Joseph, although sold into slavery was able to keep the Egyptians from starving during famine.
War, the greatest evil I can imagine, has led to advances in medicine from blood transfusions to Triage. Even legalized aborticide has led to advances in neonatal and perinatal care. Viability for premature infants has dropped from 34 weeks gestation to less than 27 weeks.

This is like saying satan wasn’t such a bad guy afterall, he’ll make good in the end. I find it ludicrous.

It is contrary to Sacred Scripture. Sacred Scripture tells us that Jesus saw satan fall like lightening from heaven, that he always was liar and a murderer from the beginning and that eternal damnation awaits those who follow evil and reject God. In revelations satan and all of the fallen angels will be thrown into the eternal fire forever.

I don’t believe any such thing that satan will end up in heaven again. Satan knew all there was and is and ever will be to know about God and he flatly said ‘I will not serve’, that was binding for all eternity and he bound himself to this. Satan doesn’t have to be so evil, but he chose to be and in doing so became the source and father of all evil. He cannot love nor will he ever love.

I don’t believe it and would like further information to explain and expound such a theory that runs so contrary to Sacred Scripture.

I don’t believe it either. The greatest sin that God cannot forgive you is to blasphame the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is Love.

Satan rejects Love - the Holy Spirit ; thus, the sin is unforgiven.

I might be wrong, but that’s the way I saw it at the moment.

Rejecting the Devil (the personification of evil) through the acceptance of Jesus Christ is the source for being holy and glorifys God.

Water means that what you are rejecting is God the source of being holy. That is what Water meant as you have re-iterated.🙂 😃

Good is the totality of good, Satan is the total absence of good, therefore pure evil and the complete opposite of God.

It doesn’t answer the question which I think is more of a statement is disguise. I hope my post is more of a reminder for us to answer the op without “railing speech”. Tim

I think Blessedstar is right by sticking with scripture to describe why the devil is so evil. I think this is a touchy subject with God, as would Him having to destroy any of His creations would be, including us. Which St. Michael shows us by example. I know the poster of this question is fresh from a profound spiritual experience and I’m looking out for him/her. I would hate for him/her to be given a “thorn” because of a conversation like this went badly by elation. Tim

We are used to the word “rebuke” being used instead of “railing” as in the St. Michael prayer. But the online Douy-Rheims I have uses “railing” in that verse.

I can perfectly understand why the original poster has posed the questions they have.

I think if God touches you in a very profound way it becomes very difficult to imagine why anyone could be debasely evil, but that is the nature of evil. Satan does not love at all and if God were to shower satan with every grace and blessing of His love satan would still refuse God. This is absolutely shocking and we should be shocked by it and totally reject satan and all of his works.
