I point out…“You HAVE TO, reject the Catholic Church as being the ONLY Church, Christ formed!”
You want to believe the, “Lutheran Church” formed Sixteen Hundred years after Jesus, by the man “Martin Luther” is also; A Church Jesus formed!?
It is certainly part of the Church.
To believe “The Lutheran Church” is the true Church, you MUST reject…
“Listen to the Church” these are the words of Jesus… Jesus spoke “Listen to the Church” Sixteen Hundred years before Martin Luther was born! “Listen To The Church” was written in Luther’s bible as it is still in your bible to this day!
Yep. And I do listen to the Church.
Martin Luther refused to “Listen to The Church” he had to reject the words of Jesus to reject the Church Jesus formed!
Nope.
Do you understand?
I understand that you are a triumphalist. You own catechism, which here you clearly dispute, says otherwise.
Fact: To be Protestant you are forced to REJECT the scriptures otherwise there is NO protest!
Well, historically, there was a protest, and the Second Diet at Speyer - it was against government rules limiting religious practices. that’s where the term protestant. I wasn’t alive in 1529.
Jesus said… “I am with you ALWAYS to the very end of the Age”!
Jesus said.. “the Church is HOLY, without stain, BLAMELESS!”
Jesus said… ““The Church” is the Pillar and the Foundation of Truth!”
Jesus said.. “I will send you the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth”!
And the Holy Spirit is still guiding the Church into all truth. But I think you’ve stumbled into something here. Are you saying John Tetzel was blamelss, or Pope Leo X was blameless?
JonNC You are forced to reject what Jesus said, to be Lutheran!
Not at all.
FACT: If the Catholic Church fell into error as Luther said, as you want to believe, THEN…
Then you and Martin Luther, are forced to believe the Holy Spirit lead his Church into ERROR! You are forced to believe God erred!
JonNC
FACT: If God was to error then he would NOT be perfect, he would NOT be God!
This is polemic nonsense. It is men who were in leadership of the Church at that time that fell into abuses and corruption. God made no errors, men did. Unless, of course, you believe that men who happen to lead the Catholic church are perfect.
Do you understand? To be Lutheran you are forced to reject the scriptures or…
Or you would be Catholic!
Nonsense.
You are forced to REJECT the scriptures to believe in Martin Luther!
FACT: Scriptures are very very clear…** You REJECT Jesus** by NOT accepting the scriptures!
I don’t believe in Martin Luther. I believe in Christ, the living God.
Jesus WARNS…
John 12:48
There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.
Lutherans accept His words, as do Catholics and other Christians.
JonNC You are even forced to reject this WARNING from Jesus, to stay in the Lutheran church!
I don’t reject the warning at all.
JonNC I point you the words of Martin Luther… I did not write them, Luther did!
But you refuse to identify via a link your source to them.
I point you to scriptures… The words of Jesus!
The words of Martin Luther are directly opposed to the words of Jesus!
We’ll just have to diagree.

If the present Lutherun hiearchy decreed Martin Luther was in error we are returning to the Catholic Church,Who would you listen to, in making your choice to accept the Catholic Faith or join another christian assembly?

Clearly, Rome.
But then, there are other scenarios that would end with the same result.

I was not asking your choice but to whom you turn to for counsel in your choice.
Just to be clear here you would listen to the teaching of th Latin Rite Catholic Church in making your choice as to whether or not you would join the Caholic Church vs another christian congregation?

You asked about Lutheran leadership, and I responded to the (unlikely) hypothetical scenario you proposed. But to your question here, yes, the Catholic church could influence me into being in communion with the Bishop of Rome ,in the following ways:
  1. Through dialogue, come to reconciliation with Lutheran leaders.
  2. Come to complete reconciliation with Orthodoxy. Its off topic, but I have mentioned in other threads the reasons why.
  3. Simple recognition by the pope that the Augsburg Confession is an essnetially Catholic confession of faith.
So, yes, the reason I am here is to listen.

I understand clearly. Thanks.

If I am an adult and was properly Chistened in a Presbyterian church. Will the catholic church accept me if I have decided that I want to convert to catholisim. I am from a very small family and went to a Catholic funeral today. I felt very welcome. I want to be accepted by a group that God is their Father and the fellow parishiners are kind. I have been to other religions services. I was new. “Hi, I’m Valerie” Their response “Hi your sitting in out seats.” That happened a while ago and I never went back, I feel that catholics are humble,go to confession and just do what I am so missing in my very lonely life. I am married to the same man(Lutheran) and don’t believe in divorce. I am just actively trying to find a church who will accept me. I will take classes and the RICA program and all requiements. I want to be part of a group who will love me as much as I will love them. No one is a stranger to me so please will someone point me in the right direction. I want to devote my life to this.
Thankyou kindly for reading my long ramble.

Hi Paisley,

I suggest you start your own thread. This thread is over a year old. The Moderators ask that we not “resurrect” old threads. Instead, start a new one.

To answer your question, if you were baptized in the Presbyterian church, yes the Catholic Church accepts your baptism as valid. You would be received into full communion and complete your sacraments with confirmation and eucharist.

Simply contact your local Catholic parish and talk to the pastor and/or RCIA coordinator.
