I don’t really see the difference. It certainly can’t be a bad thing to meditate on the Luminous Mysteries so, however it gets done… That said, if one is saying the complete Rosary, why wouldn’t you add this “chaplet” in? It certainly couldn’t be bad to do something you consider extra.

This reminds me, my BIL has set of “Irish” Rosary beads. It has the traditional 5 decades plus an extra. No meditation. It’s strictly an intercessory decade for Ireland. The horrors!
We say the Divine Mercy Chaplet on a regular set of rosary beads. Same diff.

Except that you start out with the Creed, Our Father for the Pope’s intentions, the 3 Hail Marys for Faith Hope and Charity, etc., etc. ,etc.👍

I’m not SSPX and I don’t much care for the Luminous mysteries either. We are not required to say them anyway.

Please, Bear, do not put words into my mouth.

I don’t have to pray the new mysteries, they are not binding. The Rosary hasn’t changed from its Traditional form of Our Lady’s Psalter if one doesn’t say them. One doesn’t have to include the new Mysteries at all.
The whole rosary issue is non-binding.

Strongly encouraged, but non-binding.

the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries were instituted by divine revelation; the Luminous were not.
Do we really know this? God does guide the Pope. He didn’t just step back and say, “Hope this guy gets it right!” So maybe it wasn’t Mary appearing to the pope, but maybe their was some personal Holy Spirit inspiration, like with the Bible. Angels weren’t visibly hovering over the apostles, et al, and whacking them everytime they got off track. The Holy Spirit guided them internally. Maybe there was some of that going on when the pope got this idea. 🤷 We’re not always privy to such intel, though.

I can’t see Mary being mad that we have some new meditations about the special moments of her Son’s life. The institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper is probably one of my favorite things to meditate about! I mean, we get the Eucharist!!! :extrahappy:  If that’s not reason for celebration…so I’m all for the Luminous mysteries!
