Why doesn't God heal homosexuals?

Because paedophillia cannot be explained in terms of evolutionary psychology. I don’t believe it occurs naturally in humans (i.e. at birth).

How does that support the claim that pedophiles are mostly abusers? The desire to set houses on fire doesn’t occur naturally, but most people who want to set houses on fire don’t do it.

When I say most pedophiles are predators, i’m talking about people we know are pedophiles because they have been caught / accused. Most are not otherwise ordinary people who just happen to be attracted to children but they tend to be socially isolated, socially awkward people who can’t form meaningful relationships with other adults. hence they manipulate and prey on children.

There are many stories where God does heal homosexuals, heterosexuals, bisexuals, asexual, nonsexual…have faith…God said “according to your faith let it be done.” Matthew 9:29

I have dwarfism.

It is a wonder my head is not rubbed bald from the number of charismatic faith healers who have prayed “over me” to be healed.

Once I accepted that Jesus did NOT heal Zaccheus by making him grow taller, but rather forgave Zaccheus’ sins, I got it.

My dwarfism is part of my body, it is part of what makes me me.

I guess it depends on your definition of normal. It can be said that cancer is normal, too. A certain percentage of the population has always been homosexual, if I am not mistaken.

That’s more of the ‘catholic definition’.

When people use the term homosexuals, they often just mean a person who’s attracted to the same gender rather than their sexual activity (and homosexuality being the attraction)

Homosexuality does not mean “sexual relationships by same sexes”. I repeat that homosexuality is not a sin. Consult the Catechism on homosexuality, which it clearly states not to be sinful.
You must be reading a different Catechism. Same sex attraction is not a sin. Homosexuality is a sin. In case you are not aware “acts of grave depravity” means it is a sin.

CCC 2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

CCC 2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

If you squint, this is essentially a rephrase of the problem of evil.

Same answer. We must have a will.

I don’t like the idea that dwarfism is something to be healed from.

Not to sound overly dramatic but if you’ve ever visited a Nazi concentration camp then it’s a very sobering experience. It made me think a lot about the logical conclusion of the premise that some human lives are worth more than others. One thing I’ve always been proud of the Church for is standing up for people who might otherwise be looked down up (e.g. those with downs syndrome). Now it turns out that downs syndrome people are a ‘medical miracle’ to alzheimers research:

The society that would have put them on the scrap heap would have missed this alzheimer’s ‘gift’. That’s the fundamental problem with saying that person is inferior - the law of unintended consequences. Ironically we might all be Nazi’s now if Hitler hadn’t been so stupid as to expel all the Jewish scientists from Germany!

The Nazi’s rounded up both homosexuals and people with dwarfism (and twins, and Gypsys, and many others who did not fit the ideal)

They weren’t the first, the Spartans did something similar for less malicious reasons. But again, it contributed to their downfall.

The Nazi’s rounded up both homosexuals
They gave them pink triangles so that way they were humiliated in the camps by guards and everyone else. Their “ideal” was being built on the death of innocence, let’s hope this never happens again

I love your story, it is a great witness of faith. However, a genetic condition is not the same as homosexuality…homosexuality is not a disease or something you are born with (based on my research under BS in Genetics and MS in Biochemistry by God’s Grace). Sexual attraction is a desire that can be changed for the better by God’s healing. As with any desire. Otherwise, God would not expect celibacy or monogamy.

Well i’ve looked at a lot of research myself and I don’t think it’s clear cut enough to say you are not born with it. It might boil down to semantics, what i think is clear is that some people are born with a predisposition that makes same sex attraction significantly more likely to occur by their teenage years.

There are many ways to view this and it’s not even a case of having one answer. For example, if we start with 5% of the population experiencing same sex attraction at all, then within that 5% there will be some who only experience same sex attraction and more who experience attraction to both sexes. I think some or most of them had a birth predisposition that was triggered by environmental factors but then there are some who defy this explanation.

Another problem is that the research tends to be massively biased and often studies that initially looked like they prove x, turn out to have had flaws in them. For example, there was a study of identical twins, some of who became gay and others that didn’t. The LGBT community got egg on their face when they celebrated two gay penguins who ditched each other once they found female mates later! To a certain extend every study has limitations because you never sample the whole world. But if you rely on your common senses then you can easily find same sex attraction people who had good childhoods and displayed same sex attraction traits well before the age they knew what they were.

For what it’s worth, my working assumption is that most homosexuals were not born entirely destined on that path but it was triggered by environmental factors. The problem is that we don’t understand those factors well enough and they tend to be beyond the childs control anyway. So i’d be careful about making to many big claims as i don’t see the undisputed evidence there to back it up one way or the other.

You are asking a women who naturally should be : ( I am a convert to Christianity. Faith is the answer. “According to your faith let it be done”, Matthew 9:29. Trust in God’s love and pray to be attracted only to the spouse God intends and ask for the prayers and intercession of the Saints. St Maria Garretti and the blessed Mother Mary are great intercessors.

Love the St Benedictine by the way! Much trust in God’s power and love in the Benedictine cross.

Do you have a bs in genetics and ms in Biochemistry? It is simple to understand if you know what to look for in genetic studies.

I’m educated enough to understand an answer if you are educated enough to explain it clearly. It’s a question that crosses multiple academic disciplines so resist the temptation of over-extrapolate from your comfort zone.

It is simple. The short explaination…twin studies. Identical Twin studies have a very low correlation. Twin studies where twins are separated at birth have no significant correllation. Clearly environmental not genetic. Wait I am going to get to a computer so I don’t have to text this all…I can provide a better explaination.
