This is specifically for Michelle Arnold regarding this Q&A. I am listing this canon from the Code of Canon Law:
It specifically states ONLY water and medicine. Gum does not fall under either one of those categories. So, how do you justify that gum does not break the Communion fast? Thank you for your response.One who is to receive the most holy Eucharist is to abstain from any food or drink, with the exception only of water and medicine, for at least the period of one hour before holy Communion (canon 919).
